and you - will make sure you know what’s what. We were thinking of north west Edinburgh next time, perhaps South Queensferry as most peeps are coming from north or west!!! Who’d have thought a get together would be so popular!
Have you guys checked out what’s happening? There’s a “younger women’s forum” residential course in Glasgow on Friday (9.30) 5th September overnight to Saturday 4pm. It’s for 20-45 yr olds who have been dx in last 3 years (which I think covers all of us who met the other week). It gives us a chance to chat about issues which may not be as important to the more mature!
Includes medical update from oncologist, how to manage side effects of treatment, “sexuality and intimacy”, fertility probs and lymphoedema. See the sticky on this thread re Younger Women’s Forum in Blackburn for the general jist of the thing.
It’s on the front pages somewhere - have a look if you are interested. I think it’s too soon after my last Tax - I reckon I’ll only feel half human if it’s anything like the last two (have had 2 hours sleep tonight and been in quite a lot of pain, and only got 4 hours last night), so I’m a definite “no show”, but I’m positive some of you would like a weekend away and a chance to discuss all this without wondering if people at the next table are eavesdropping!
Hi Sue,
I’m not going to make it though I was down for the one they postponed in May. I’m going on one of the Oddysey hols - not sure what they have planned but I have to get to Dunoon.
Hope your chemo is going well and you get a bit more sleep. I remember watching odd programmes at 4 in the morning then sleeping the rest of the day.
South Queensferry would be good for me too.
Kate
Sounds interesting Sue - might consider.
Hi K - how you doing girl? Isn’t it incredible that South Queensferry would be more convenient for you?! lol There’s another lady, Suzie, who wants to hook up with us too, from near kelso, so she’ll have the furthest to travel unfortunately.
What’s an odyssey hol? My parents had their honeymoon in Dunoon!
Hey Julia - thought you might find it of interest.
You all have a lovely evening, or a marvellous Tuesday and we’ll catch up again soon
Sue xxx
Hi Sue,
Quickly catching up - I’m at work. Have you recovered slightly from chemo yet or do you take more than a week to feel better?
Odyssey holidays are run by another charity who take people who have cancer dx and take them away for a weeks holiday to do things they might not have experienced before. The one in Scotland starts in Dunoon and they don’t tell what it entails until you get there. I think it might be hill walking etc. Can’t wait!
Do you think we should start a new post about meeting up?
Kate
yeah - good idea Kate - on you go love
Yeah Kate - go for it girl…>>>.shoves her forward encouragingly!
Am recovering nicely now thanks - praise to GP for giving me morphine syrup to get through the painful nights!
Dunoon thats just doon the watterfrom my mums.
Sorry your having sleepless nights and pain Sue, just look forward to the last one. How are the taste buds, if you have trouble try gargling with bicarb of soda, fresh pineapple is also nice. At least your getting morphine, they gave me tramadol which didnt ease the pain but I felt so wasted I didnt care!!
lol - was on tramadol during the DAY - the morphine is to give me a bit more of a boost to get through the nights. You can cope with discomfort/pain when you are up, but when you are desperate for some sleep…! I can move mountains if I can just sleep. GP been fantastic, v understanding. Am coming out other side of it now, thanks for the mouth tip - is it just me that has a furry feeling gob?
Chemo Carol says “hi” by the way!!! I’ll see her again Friday for the bloods…joys.
