Anybody got any experience of Navelbine/Vinorelbine

Hi lovely ladies. Have just been told that Cap/Lap not working for me. My next treatment will be with oral Navelbine. Is anyone else out there currently receiving this treatment, and if so do you have any tips/advice?

Many thanks.

Hi Chris,
I have no experience of this but I know in the past there have been (short) threads from people taking this oral chemo drug. One such thread is here Search Results | Breast Cancer Now I recognise many of the names and as far as I know they are doing well, though some no longer post on here.

BCC have a downloadable leaflet on this drug which you can download e.g. here http://www2.breastcancercare.org.uk/sites/default/files/Navelbine%20(vinorelbine)%20LP.pdf

Hope you get some useful replies soon. Take care.

Thanks, RevCat. That was really useful. I shall see if I can see if CromerCrab is still on this treatment, or if not how long it was effective for her. And the information was really useful too. Take care.

Hi Chris, not sure how I misssed your thread as I’ve started another one on the same subject a few days after you. I haven’t been on it long enough to give much advice as I’m still on the 1st cycle. I’m also on a lower than ususal dose to start off to see how my WBC goes as I’ve had issues with this on Capecitabine. The only real SE I had so far was some constipation on week 2, expect it will be a bit of trial and error with the laxatives until I figure that one out. Otherwise so far I’ve been feeling fairly good on it, better than on Cap.

Had baseline CT scan this morning. Waiting until next Friday for results.

Blood counts were good so have had dose upped to the normal starting dose for cycle 2. If they are still OK will go up to the standard dose for cycle 3.

Good luck with your scan results, Gail.

Thanks Ann. CT scan shows some fluid in the chest wall and activity in a couple of new nodes, but could be a lot worse. Just need to keep an eye on things with the fluid as if it builds up it could put pressure on the lungs and would need to be drained but not much there just now. Also being referred to lymphoedema specialist for arm, thought I would escape that problem when developed secondaries before I had surgery. I think there has been a bit of continuing growth of skin mets since starting Vinorelbine, but as I was on such a low dose for cycle 1 it’s a bit too early to panic. Onc reckons she has plenty more tricks up her sleeve if this one doesn’t work.

Saw onc today, but she was just checking the skin mets so no scans this time. Seems to be a slightly mixed picture. Skin more purple than red in places. Had a few new growths on cycle 2. Some older lesions seem to have gone a bit crusty and some of them are bleeding now, so a bit concerned about that. As I’ve just gone onto the full dose she wants to give it longer to work and will get a CT scan done for next time.
