Anyone been for ultrasound for breast lump then told they need MRI ?

Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation. I am awaiting a MRI because the radiologist felt the ultrasound was not sensitive enough to say if lump is benign or not. I had bc 5 years ago new lump is just under my scar. radiologist said it is probably nothing to worry about, I wish it was that easy
thanks for reading xx

Hi
I had mri when first dx as had lump they couldnt see on mammo but showed up on US they couldnt get to it to do biopsiy as was too deep. So bit different from yours but I think mri gives more detail.

Hi,
Can’t help much as I’m in the same situation - awaiting appointment for MRI. My consultant said that ultrasound basically is working with shadows while they get a much clearer picture with MRI. Good luck!

Hi
I was diagnosed back in 2008 on MRI having had a lump that didn’t show on Mammogram or Ultrasound. Lobular often doesn’t. I now have a mammogram & MRI at every annual check.
Hope this helps.

I had biopsies and ultrasound when first diagnosed but then sent for MRI for more clarity on what was really there as not enough detail from ultrasound. I believe MRI gives a fuller view so they have more detail and I also had further biopsy after MRI as they found more tumours through MRI - this was all before original surgery so they could decide which surgery was the right option.

Same story as Katebil for me - MRI used to give more detailed picture. As a result, I didn’t have the planned mastectomy but had chemo then a lumpectomy. The MRI’s expensive but worth it!

Thanks for the replies, I have a date for MRI next week, then I will hopefully know if this is a recurrence or not, yesterday was my 5year anniversary since diagnosis ! Sod’s law !

Any news yet powerjen? I had my MRI today, results in a week.
