Anyone currently undergoing TC Chemo + Herceptin

Hi everyone

Thank you for your replies to my initial “Newbie” post last Wednesday following Onco appointment and treatment plan meeting.

I’m trying my best to deal with what’s to come and accept that chemo etc is in the long term, the right treatment for me, although I still doh’t consider that I have BC, so I’m going to take a fellow members advice and take advantage of some of the many groups and organisations available support as I don’t want to burdon or bore my family and friends to death talking about it and trying to get justification.

I’ve managed to read the info I’ve been given now on Herceptin and TC Chemo, which I’ve been avoiding as the list of SE’s alome just made me feel ill and angry, let alone the reality of the treatment.

Is anyone currently undergoing treatment with Docetakel (Taxotere) and Cyclophosphamide followed by Herceptin?
I would just appreciate hearing about your experiences/SEs etc. I’m aware there maybe some earlier posts on the same subject so apologise if I’m repeating previously asked questions.

I have a scheduled Ecocardiogram on 17th June so I’m guessing that will be followed by details of my first chemo cycle probably early July, nice! Would rather be going on holiday…!!

Many thanks

Trish

Hi Trish,
I am due to start the same treatment. I met with the oncologist last week who gave me three weeks to decide on treatment. I didn’t get any recommendation in terms of chemo or herceptin, but the stistics look better than not having it.
I don’t seem to be able to find many people that are HER2+ on here and having this treatment.
I am Her2+ ER 8 PR 8
I had a MUGA test on Friday but no results yet.
Hope you are getting on well with the treatment.
Best wishes

I am ER2+ and HER2+ and there are quite a few ladies on the forum who are and can give advice/support. I finished the TC part of TCH (taxotere/cyclophosphamide/herceptin) in April. Herceptin is usually started at the same time as the chemotherapy and carries on every 3 weeks after the chemo. You do not get sickness with taxotere(docetaxel) - as long as you take the tablets you are given for the first few days of chemo! I am fine on Herceptin.

Hey there. I had tax + Herceptin. Now just Herceptin til end of December. Side effects, tax causes bone and joint pains. Aches. Swollen numb feet. Now just on Herceptin which is lot better. runny nose. Still got numb toes. But not so bad. I have Herceptin on Thursday. tired and achey over the weekend them fine until next time. There is a lot of support here, so feel free to rant and rave x sue

Good luck with your treatment Trish. I’ve also completed the chemo part and am now just getting Herceptin (and taking Tamoxifen). In a few months time you will have gotten through the most gruelling part. It passes quite quickly an you will have lots of good days I’m sure. For every cycle of chemo I had a few bad days but once I knew what my se’s were going to be it was easier to cope with. I would def recommend getting omeprozole for your stomach as the Taxotere can give you bad heartburn which the omeprozole counteracts.
