Anyone diagnosed at North Tees hospital?

Hi,

I have an appt on Tues at North Tees for mammogram after finding a lump in left breast 2 weeks ago - does anyone know if it’s a one stop shop as I have read that some hospitals provide this? Alternatively, how long between mammogram and next appt (if needed) for further testing?

I’m a bit scared as you ladies can all relate to!

Many thanks
Julie

Dear Julie,

Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums. While you’re waiting for replies from other forum users, here is a link to the BCC Publication ‘Referral to a breast clinic’ which I hope will be helpful:

Hi Butterfly
Sorry that you find yourself here with us in what has been called “the waiting room”. I’m afraid I don’t know if your Hospital is one-shop. My appoint is on Tuesday as well, it’s the waiting and not knowing that is so difficult. Be gentle with yourself and keep asking questions on this forum, everyone is hugely friendly and supportive.

Thanks Sonja, hope it all goes well for you on Tues. My brain keeps telling me that 9 out of 10 are nothing… But that little devil on my shoulder is whispering about the 10% left. I keep telling devil to s*d off though

Julie

Oh just a quick question - should I ask someone to go along with me for appt? Hubby is at work and can’t get away - do they give you any indication on the day?

Hi Julie

Tough one really, from what I have heard here, some places give you an idea, others don’t. I’m having to go on my own on Tuesday, but if I have to go back for results then I will definitely take someone with me.

Take care and keep telling that little 10% devil to get knotted!

Sonja

Hi Julie

Sorry you are having to go through this. I had some of my treatment at North Tees but was in a slightly different situation from you. I suggest yo ring the unit and ask to speak to the Breast Care nurses…I found them to be amazing. Ask them about time scales etc.
Take care

Hi

I am being treated at North Tees, when I was 1st diagnosed 12 yr ago they did the mammo and ultrasond/biopsy there & then and got results straight away, this time I had usual mammo and then got call to say lump was found, when they did my biopsy waited a wk for the results and then went and had my mastectomy at hartlepool and now having chemo in the day unit, I suggest you ring the breast cancer unit and speak to one of the nurses they, they have an amazing team and will answer any of your questions no matter how trivial you feel they are, the dr that is treating me is just the best and has such a caring nature he is worth his wait in gold.
Good luck and hope all goes well, if you want to pm me please do.
