Ellie, i hope you find somebody close to your age on here. Even at 36 i felt isolated being diagnosed with breast cancer so being just 17 must be awfully isolating.
All the best

Hi Everyone,
I haven’t been on here for quite a while and was just wondering how everyone was getting on?
Just seen your post Ellie. I was 23 when I was diagnosed last March, so I’m not as young as you, but I am here if you want to message me? I definitely know how lonely it gets, so don’t hesitate to contact me.

im 25 now , found out i had DCIS just after my 25th birthday last year after having an operation fot removing a lump, they decided i should go for the masectomy in which i did, scary thought but they said it will all be gone then. in between these appointments I had lymph node biopsy which came back all negative but they removed three. had my skin sparing masectomy and immediate reconstruction 3 weeks ago now, still sore and bruised but was just glad it was all over. then last Wednesday I went for my results with my surgeon who then told me they found two lots of DCIS 77mm wide and Grade 2 Breast Cancer which is hormone sensitive and have offered me a 6 month course of chemo and tamoxifen, very scared and emotional at first but just grateful its all been caught early, worried about losing my hair, bein too ill to look after my son, but not sure what chemo I will be having till seeing my oncologist wednesday, best of luck to you all, its a horrible thing to have to go through no matter what age, but as long as we all have the support we will get though it xxxxx

Hi Sam,
Don’t worry about losing your hair. It’s horrible and I hated it, but I got a good wig which got me through going out in public. I even went out for a meal with some patients on the teenage cancer ward where I had my chemo and someone thought it was my boyfriend who was ill…haha! Made me chuckle!
I’m also on tamoxifen. I was scared of taking it, but it’s not too bad. I’m just having achy legs at the mo, which is worrying me, but I think that’s one of the side effects. Does anyone else get achy legs?
Anyway, I’m going on aren’t I! Message me whenever you need to talk!

Hi, I had just turned 28. Had 6 FEC chemotherapy, radiotherapy and am currently taking Tamoxifen with monthly Zoladex injections. It will be 5 years this december since finding the dreaded lump on xmas eve.
Its been a roller coaster of emotions and hard at times but i’m a changed person for getting through it.
Good luck ladies and sending you lots of love xxx
Hi i’ve only just seen some of the recent posts aimed at me, i’m still not understanding the ‘bumping up’ system haha
Breast cancer in the 20s is very rare, and since i’m only 17 i still don’t understand how i have it. When i first went to see my GP she said breast cancer in under 25s is unheard of, so i was very surprised when i got diagnosed last month.
I had a mastectomy last week and am going in for the results tomorrow (really nervous). then i will be starting readiotherapy next month, and hopefully will be getting reconstruction at the end of this year.
All the best, Ellie xxx
Bless you Ellie, I am now a granny to you by comparison at 48 I did have breast c ancer and a mx and recon, chemo tam, zoladex ect at 34. I hope it makes you feel better to know I went on to get married to a lovely man and had two beautiful children XXXXXXXXXXX

Hi All,
Been a lurker/sporadic poster on the boards for a few months but just found this. I was diagnosed at 26 with IDC (seemingly, like so many of us - no family history etc etc) - then 3 months later (3 days before my 27th Birthday) they found it in my liver, other breast, womb & ‘suspect’ tumours in my back!
On various hormonal and chemo treatments - but nothing’s working yet … Don’t know how long it took you all to ‘come to terms’ but sometimes it just feels like it’s still not real…
Hope you are all OK on this Friday evening!!!
Liz xx
Hello Everyone!
I started this post and im soo glad other people are using it. I was diagnosed in May 2010 and have since had fertility treatment, zoladex injections, lumpectomy, had a hickman line iserted, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and am now having herceptin at home which i will finish xmas week 2011.
Im still here and im still going - i just wanted to reassure you all that you can and will get through it! Dont shut anyone out and always accept any help you are offered!
Its not easy and i am still trying to deal with everything emotionally but stay strong and positive. When i was diagnosed i thought that my life was going to end but there is life after breast cancer and hopefully a very happy one for all of us!!
superjem xx
Hi,
I am 29 and new to this forum. I have been diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma about 3 weeks ago. I have no family history so it was a real shock (well, kind of still is…). The tests showed that the tumour to be grade 3, close to 4cm and as being ER and PR positive with lymph node involvement. I just started chemo (FEC) last week at Charring X.
