Thank you for all your well wishes & yes it is a great feeling to be half way isn’t it?! I think that’s what’s getting me through this one! Last night was actually better than the first two. I drink lots of water generally anyway but I drank liters of the stuff the night before chemo & then last night instead of going to bed when I got home I stayed down stairs with my hubby, watched TV,sipped water & had a few snoozes here & there. Think that helped me keep my mind of it all a bit. Feeling OK today - will have to see what the next few days bring!
Hope you are doing well love wine & joan 47? Thinking of you both. Well done for braving it by the way! And good luck to wildpurl & tlj63 for yours today.
So pleased for you smokeclouds with your hair! Long may it continue! Same goes for your hubby - that’s really nice isn’t it. Must me something in the air - my hubby just came home from work early & with the weather the way it is has gone to get some materials & is going to have a go at ours. Its only been like a jungle since we moved in (4 & half yrs ago!).
Thanks for the info on the talks & mags books & wine - does sound good. Will have a look into those.
Hope the hypno goes well for you jackie 09 - yes let us all know how it goes. I’ve got acupuncture on wed - mother in law sorted it all for me so worth a try.
Juices all round then loulou1262 - you may feel like a cheeky little cocktail by now?!
Joan47 if you go on eBay & type in ‘chemo hats’ they have all sorts on there.
Hope you are all enjoying the scorcher! Xxx
Also…when I spoke to my oncologist yesterday & said I felt so low & tearful last time & thought it was the metraclopramide - she changed me to cyclazine? & saidits prob the steroids doing it so halved the dose on those. When I got to the chemo unit I had the same conversation with them & hadn’t even mentioned the metraclporamide to them yet & they said that’s what would be causing it - so glad ive not got those anymore! But they didn’t halve my steroids as said I’d be really sick if they did that plus ive got to have them prior to the tax next time in case of reaction so better get used to them! X
Booksandwine, thanks for the tip on magazine, have just ordered one!
Eam28 obviously our oh’s cope by doing up the gardens!! Wish mine would- still a jungle! Hope you are feeling a bit better today- I feel not too bad, snacking little and often keeps sickness away a bit, I was also changed to cyclizine and found it much better, I find just pottering around doing small jobs keeps my mind off it too.
Rosie, will be thinking of you- what a crap time you are having, hope you are on the up soon, will be better im sure when you change to your new regime( fingers crossed for you) x
Wild purl hope your horribleness isn’t too bad- it’s awful isn’t as you just wait to start a few hours after chemo, but like you say the end is not that far away for last chemo!
Loulou1262 new juicer sounds great, I love my new coffee machine, it’s nice to have treats- you can make loads of tasty things in it, let us know some good combinations!!
Jackie09 I feel for you with the window cleaner I can just imagine myself doing that, dodging from room to room!
Hope everyone is enjoying our sunshine , it makes you feel much better doesn’t it. X
Oh Rosie that’s horrid for you! I’m so sorry! At least you know what it is. Can make you feel awful at the best of times but when you’ve got the se’s of the chemo to go through aswell… Hope it doesn’t last too much longer for you. Like wildpurl has just said - your regieme has been pretty gruelling compared to ours! Thinking of you.
Glad you’ve managed to eat something wildpurl. Like you say you know the horrible bit is on its way but fingers crossed it won’t be too bad for you.
Yeah I think your right love wine - the men cope by just working more hours & doing jobs like that - fine by me! Auw hopefully yours will take the initiative or will he need a few hints?!
I’m the same as you - feel OK (come to think of it I normally do on the Fri then go down hill a bit until the mon ue) so we’ll see! Have pottered around all day so just having a little lie down before my little girl gets home from childminder. Even tho I’m not out doing nice things its still nice with the sun streaming through the bedroom curtains & hearing the happy birds - your right it makes all the difference. Glad your coping well at the moment - long may it continue! Xxx
Eam28 yes come to think of of it I feel worse on sat/sun and then bit better Monday! Hope you manage to have a decent weekend all things considered! Xx
Hi ladies chemotherapy yesterday absolutely bu**ered today not got any energy Hopefully better tomorrow because I can’t stand any more day time tv Any one got tips for the FEC ing fatigue ??
Had 3rd chemo Tuesday, managed to potter about Wed & Thur but tuday I hit the brick wal & have spent most of the day in bed. Hoping for a better day tomorrow…
Maybe we should start a thread for the OH’s so they can compare gardening/DIY methods…
Rosie - my heart goes out to you having to go through all that’s being thrown at you right now
EAM28 - they changed my anti sickness & the steroids when I told them how I’d been. So far so tears which is a bloody relief after last cycle when I thought the met office might have to issue a localised flood warning
Hope everytime else is doing OK & has as good a weekend as possible
Smokes and Louise. Agree with the fatigue I can now fall asleep on the couch in afternoon and I have never been a nanna napper. Mind you crashing at. 9 or 10 the being awake at 2 gets like jet lag.
The shortness of breath gets me I go for elks etc but feel like I’m stilling like a 90 year old.
Rosie hang in there you’ve had it tough very tough but you sound like you have the inner strength to get through.
Planning a day in the sun tomorrow at a fair fun day nearby. Feel if I don’t at least do something each week I’m not fair to my partner.
Best to all - goodnight or good morning
Morning all, feeling OK so far on day 2 (not gonna count my lucky stars just yet!). Have managed to have two bowls of cornflakes. Hoping to have a little nap at some point as been up with little one since 5am. Noticing a lot more hot flushes this time! No tears yet like smokeclouds but last time I don’t think that kicked in until day3 so will see! Thank you love wine - hope you have as good a wkend as is possible.
Sorry to hear you’ve got no energy Louise - if you feel well in all other ways it must be blooming annoying. I suppose there’s not much you can do - its your body’s way of telling you to rest I guess? Hope you feel up to something today.
Hope you have a fun day out booksandwine:)
Sending strength to you Rosie xxxx
Morning everyone, hope today brings us little better in way of side effects and much more improvement to you Rosie.
Eam 28, your little girl must be such a joy to you at the age she is: but I remember when my 2 boys were that age getting up at 5.00 a.m watching Thomas the tank on t.v for about the 100 th time,it must be hard when going through all this too! Hope today you don’t hit the crap day!! Fingers crossed so far I don’t feel too bad! X
Louise , Booksandwine, smoke clouds, hope your energy levels pick up a little more today, especially if you have trips out planned, I seem to be able to nod off on sofa sitting upright, but the crap that’s on daytime t.v that’s not surprising!
Kirstie, hope you are healing ok?
Wild purl and Jackie and all other ladies hope you are all ok too!
P.s came across a really funny link from ladies on another thread which made me laugh til I cried, if you haven’t seen It and want a good laugh: go on to Amazon and look up VEET hair removal cream for men, click on first product listed and read the reviews- you will never see ice cream or Brussels sprouts in the same way again!! Am still laughing now at the thought of it!! Xx
Chemo 3 yesterday. Last time I felt really diddly immediately afterwards so this time they slowed it down and gave me a break in the middle. Sorry, for diddly read giddy, my auto spell comes up with some really weird things sometimes. Today not managed to get up yet, combination of chemo and taking sleeping pills last night to counteract the steroids. Chemo nurse did suggest halving the steroids but I said no, don’t want to feel any more nauseous. Also as someone else said, I shall to get used to taking more with TAX. I asked this nurse about protecting nails and said several patients had had good results with dark nail varnish. Since the previous nurse had been adamant about not even using clear varnish I asked if there was a hospital police but she said no. So now I’m not sure what to do. Anyone know of any research on this. What are tigers planning to do and has your hospital given any advice? Re OHs and DIY. Mine is now painting the windows outside! He is being a great support except when it comes to finding things in the kitchen. Anyone would think he didn’t live here. This morning I asked him to make a cup of hibiscus tea and directed him to the right shelf in the right cupboard, to look for a large foil packet. He came back to say he had everything out and it wasn’t there. Needless to see it was. He then tried to argue it wasn’t foil because it was gold rather than silver. A certain amount of shouting, by me, then ensued. Rosie, you are going to deserve a gold medal at the end of this. Shingles is awful in itself but to have to cope with it on top of everything else is just too much. I do hope things start looking up for you soon. Louise, Smokeclouds and others experiencing fatigue, I have decided that when it first hits it doesn’t help to try to stagger on so I take it really easy and don’t plan anything. After that I have become reconciled to the fact that I can have periods of activity, interspersed if possible with rests. In fact I have decided to treat the next few months as an enforced holiday enabling me to catch up with reading, watching DVD’s which have been accumulating and seeing, talking to friends. It’s working so far. Thanks for the advice about headgear. Off to a LGFB course on Tuesday.
Glad your starting to feel a bit better Rosie, im a bit queezy today and im just going to go and boil some new potatoes for tea. Went to the football with my eldest this morning and had to have a nap this afternoon, definitely think the tiredness is going to get worse each round. X
That’s great Wildpurl, gives me hope that I’ll keep a covering of hair. The thickness of it doesn’t seem to have changed in the last 10 days despite having hair come out every day so maybe it is protecting the new growth too. My hair is definitely still growing as I haven’t had a fringe for years until I had it cut the day before chemo started & it’s just struck me that it’s in my eyes. I’m still cautious though & will take each chemo as it comes
Hope everyone is enjoying the sun, I’m sat under a parasol on my new deck watching hubby lay turf!
Hi , glad you feeling a little better Rosie, I think we all seem a little queasy today: jelly babies have been my thing today to ease sicky feeling.
Smokeclouds sounds a lovely afternoon enjoying your new garden! Good luck with holding on to your hair and you too wild purl- hope it continues for you both x
Let’s hope tomorrow brings less queasiness and more sunshine.
Joan. There is so much conflicting info re tax and nails. Seems two schools of thought no nail polish and dark Polish keep out uv.
Good advice keep moisturised
Also some thought seems USA are doing it cold gloves like cold cap principal for hair.
No true medical advice nurse from chemo last week said no Polish seems others say different.
I started thread under chemo genderal tec then tax
But looks like this will be a mystery journey.
Sorry some of you have not been doing do well not had a chance to catch up on all if the thread, Rosie it sounds like you’ve had a particularly tough time. I had FEC 3 in Wednesday afternoon and completed a 10 mile walk for BCC today with no problems although I’m sure will be quite tired today, I would just like the ladies who look back in past threads before their treatment to know that we are all effected in differing degrees and some of us are fortunate enough to get through chemo with limited side effects. Wishing you all well most if us are half way through now and there is light at the end of the tunnel xxx
Im moisturising and using nail oil along with black polish x
Morning all
Rosie do they know whats causing the diarrhoea, have they taken a sample? Must be awful for you I really hope things improve soon. As you know I am on Tac and could not imagine it every two weeks, my onc said its one of the hardest regimes offered but gold standard !!! I know you probably think I couldn’t give a monkeys now, but you really are amazing and courageous and the crap thats making you so ill is giving you the best possible chance to look back on this as a long distant memory xxxx
Rosie - I hope they sort it out soon xx
I’ve just done my once a week hair wash & have discovered new hair growth, I am over the moon
Wildpurl - where my parting is and the crown I can feel short hairs, like when your hairs on your legs start growing & you have stubble I’ve never been so happy for stubble!
