Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Nikki and Victoria, fingers crossed for today!Hopefully Nikki, the margins will be clear and Victoria- I had a mx 6 weeks ago today (without recon tho) and am feeling back to myself, except the numb feeling under the arm!
A week seems long, but hopefully it will go quickly for you and it won’t be too painful! Lots of hugs sent your way! x x

Where have all the Awsome girls been today?

Nikki and Victoria hope all is well with you both.
Went for my Muga scan today, scan ok but the nurses couldn’t get a vein in my left arm. previously always used my right which is now out of action due to ANC, ended up having one needle put in on my wrist and the other on top of my hand.
i have also taken a bit of control over the hair loss thing and am now the proud owner of my first wig. Wasn’t as daunting as I thought it would be, so am going to wear about the house sometimes to get used to it so that when D Day comes it won’t be so much of a shock.
hope all you lovely ladies are ok
Big hugs xxx

Hi Amber and all the AAAs
well done with venturing with the wig. I have got as far as having my hair cut into a bob and have a wig in the same style and colour as my own waiting for me at the salon. im hoping the cold cap will work though. Otherwise itll be a mad dash to collect it
i am currently at work- on call night shift. probably my last one for about a mnth as my Mx is on Thursday :frowning:
i hope nikki and victoria are both feeling ok and the day went well for both of of you xx
oh well duty calls im afraid
catch you all later

Oops sorry too eager with the keys xx

Calling all AAA’s

where are yhope are you all snowed in?

Hope everyone is ok. Xxx

Hi Girls
I’m from the July 2008 thread! I’m well over it!
Chemo is scary, when you first hear those words. Definitely. But it’s really not that bad. I was scared stiff, sitting in the chair waiting for the first infusion. I just wanted to run…
I didn’t & whilst it wasn’t pleasant, it was do-able. Just keep your head down, get on with it, mark the dates off on the calendar, don’t google, and you’ll soon be through the other side.
It’s so worth it to have your life back.
Take care xx

thanks maltomlin, I start mine 2/4 scary thought but just want to get going
Xx

Hi AAAs - first day back online after a fab weekend away with my family. My dad was diagnosed with cancer in his mouth / glands 2 days before i was diagnosed - would you believe it!!! Anyway we got him away for the weekend, it was so nice to spend some quality time with my nearest and dearest  He starts radio next week as other health probs mean he can’t have chemo or surgery - so fingers crossed Radio does it’s job and shrinks the bugger!

Nikki / Victoria - hope all is well

Do any of you have any experience with private medical? I do have cover however, have stuck with the NHS so far as care and timescales have been great. I am however, considering going for a private consultation to see if scans are available to me (they are not via NHS as I had 2/13 positive nodes, think you need 3 or 4) Also, as I am AAA negative, I’m wondering if there might be more treatments or trials available?
Would be great to hear if you have any experience - I might also start a new thread to hear from the wider community.
P.S. still no sign of Onc appointment although only 2 weeks post op

Keep smiling ladies

Morning Pauline,
Glad you had a good weekend and had the chance to spend time with your Dad.
We have insurance and Iam receiving my treatment privately through Bupa, what sort of scans are you thinking of?
I had 3/22 nodes positive and have had a bone scan and Muga scan so far. The big advantage for me seems to be the timescales compared to Nhs in my area, things have moved quicker and the fact I can get my chemo at home. It would otherwise be a minimum 3hr round trip for me to have it in hospital.

Nikki & Victoria thinking of you

xx

Hi Amber

Just thinking of the usual scans people get who have more than 3/4 lymph nodes positive - think these are bone, Mri/ct - not sure what Muga is? Did your scans shjow anything? and are they guaranteed to show any secondary cancer if it is there?
I’m probably more interested to see if there are more options for Triple neg via private - I’ve heard there might be

Think I’ll give them a call and see what they say, I did phone when first diagnosed and they said I was fully covered and could go private at any stage. Then NHS has been very quick so far so not felt the need but now in this lull betewwen post op and getting chemo date so think I might as well give them a bell. Chemo at home sounds interesting!!

I’ll keep you posted
Thanks, Pauline xx

Hi AAA’s

I just got a call to go to hospital this afternoon for Onco appointment! Apparently i should have went yesterday but there was a mix up and they didn’t send my letter out!!
Hopefully I will get my start date today, will keep you posted

big hugs, Pauline xx

Hi Awsomes! Am getting myself set for operation 2 tomorrow and hoping they’ll let me home same day and that I recover as easily as I did from op 1… Have a good weekend everyone xx

Hi, all you gorgeous AAA’s,

Pauline sounds like you won’t be far behind me.
Zuzy good luck for tomorrow
Had a pampering day, aromatherapy massage in the morning followed by hairdresser, then a reiki treatment, so Iam horizontal to say the least.
Chill out A’s and have a nice evening xx

Hi AAA’s

Got my start date - 5th April, cocktail of choice is Fec - T (yummy :))

Amber - you’ll be a couple of days in front of me so you can let me know what to expect! Are you Fec - T or something else? Sounds like you had a fab day

Zuzy - good luck for tomorrow, be thinking about you xx

Takle care all
Pauline xx

Good luck for tomorrow, Zuzy.
Saw my oncologist on Tuesday - lovely woman. Thought I was having FEC first but they’ve now decided I’m to have a different cocktail - Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin. Have to have heart scan and portacath fitted first so I’ll be a bit behind some of you.
Take care, one and all
Wendy x

hi
i think i’m going to be starting in april, 18 weeks of chemo and 3 weeks of rads, not seen the onc yet but i’m expecting to join your group so hi from the north of scotland, can i be in your gang?
angie x

Angie - welcome, we always need more AAAs for support and chat - where are you from, I’m Glasgow?

Wendy - I am also having a heart scan next week before chemo on 5th, think scan is pretty standard to make sure the old ticker can cope!

I feel it’s all becoming a reality now…

big hugs, Pauline xx

Hi gang,
iam cracking up or there are gremlins on here, could have sworn I posted this already but it’s disappeared.
Pauline / Wendy - I had my heart scan on Monday (Muga) pretty straight forward. 2 injections 30mins apart 2nd with radio active fluid then scan which lasts 15mins.
Pauline- yes Iam on the FEC-T train as well, have read all the worst side effects into if they don’t happen it will be a bonus but I think Iam mentally prepared.
Wendy - where about are you? I live near Elgin
take care xxx
