I don’t know yet bravescholor. I visit the unit on Tuesday and start on Wednesday. Also have to have a marker inserted Wed morning.
Hi ange how are you today? There are some good tips on here August thread too I pop between the two and the July ladies are really helpful too I will send you that list over the next couple of days and hope that helps. Big hugs xxxxxxxxxx
Thanks Sarah, that will be a great help. Thank you. How are you today? When is your next Fec?? Do you have blood tests on the day or a couple of days before?? Xxx
Hi ange my next is on Thursday I had some bloods done Thursday and will have some taken on the day of the chemo. Xxxxxx
So if I am correct I will have more done before I start. Not looking forward to being a pin cushion but they won’t consider a picc line unless there are issues with getting a vein at your first chemo. Never mind xx
Hi ladies and Bazza
I just about feel in the land of the living after first chemo Thursday. The actual chemo was fine although the cold cap sprung a leak and give me a nasty surprise ? I had a reaction to one of the anti sickness which left me feeling very shaky and awful. Luckily triage diagnosed it over the phone and changed meds so feeling much better now. The only other thing is I’ve gone off food completely.
I’m defiantly booking a holiday or two in the new year like you say Bazza something to look forward to!
How’s everyone else?
Xxxxx
Why won’t they consider the picc line ange I thought that was common practice. It’s a bit of a pain but it’s useful on chemo days and blood test days xxxxx
Thank you ladies for your kind words. I am obviously reading all the posts with interest to see what could be in store for me. I’ve noticed many of you suffer with similar symptoms to of the biggest appear to be sickness and mouth sores which leave you unable to eat., but I have heard many stories of weight gain, which to be honest I could to without being over weight now, what are your experiences? xx
Hi shazza well done Hun you have come through the other side you must be relieved. The cold cap incident doesn’t sound good but glad you are ok now xxxxxx
Hi Sarah , my inc said it was a descisions to be made by the chemo nurses and if my veins are ok they will leave it as normal. I am not keen on needles so would rather have one. I will wait until my first one and see if I can get the chemo nurses to recommend one xx
I hhave been to the local pharmacy for mouth wash and suggestions. The pharmacist said try boiled fruits to keep your mouth moist plus warm salt water and mouthwash. Went to Sainsburys as well and stocked up on boiled sweets to suck. I havent got any sores just a very tender tongue and inside of my lower lip.
Hopefully by Monday we will be full of life and energy. I was in bed by 8.15 last night - earlier than my 2yr old grandaughter. I wish I had as much get-up-and-go as she has. Lola you are a love.
Not necessarily. At my hospital it seems everyone is on a PICC line. I have never had a problem with my veins.
Same with me I was just told you’ll have a picc line. I was anxious about it but to be honest I’ve forgotten it’s there! Try and get one Ange if you can. XXXX
I will it sounds like it’s a better option and less chance of problems with your veins in your arm ( the one they can use) xxx
Were people scared of the thought of chemo?
Yes I was and still am!! But apart from the reaction to drugs it has been ok so far. It’s the unknown that scares us. Xxx
That’s good about it being ok so far Shazza.
I’m just feeling like I’ve been out on a good session without the fun!! And not really fancing much to eat xx
It’ll be worth it in the end I’m sure.
To be honest Barry, I am terrified but I know it has to be done, if the other ladies have found it doable then I can do it too xxx
