Anyone else having Herceptin weekly?

Hi
Saw Onc today and start Herceptin on Monday (Having Taxatere tomorrow) if I dont react will have Herceptin Weekly for 3 months. He also will combined the 2 there after with the Tax 3 weekly.

Lol does that make sense?

Is any one else having Herceptin weekly? If so how did you find it?
Oh the joys even more time at the hospital!!!

Thanks Jackie xxxxx

I’ve been on Herceptin since last summer and have only 4 more to go. I get mines every 3 weeks and have no side effects whatsoever. The hospital I am under sends nurses out from a private healthcare company to give it at home (or at work if you have a private place to go to). I just sit and have a cuppa while I have the infusion. It means I only have to leave work an hour early and according to my onc it’s actually cheaper for the hospital to use this company that to have everyone going to the chemo ward. In my case the round trip to the hospital was 45 miles, so I’m very happy to have it done this way.

Hi jackie

I’ve been having weekly herceptin since october, for the first 12 weeks it was given together with taxol, and now with fec (which is onlyy ever 3 weeks).

I get really tired after herceptin, and sleepy, possibly due to the antihistamines the give me before. Usually it onl lasts for an afternoon. Its not too bad, the fec’s much worse, its having to go that’s a pain as I get bloods, then see the oncologist beofre the infusion, every time its ay least 3 hours gone…a lot of waiting around in waiting rooms. thankfully I have a few wonderful friends who take it in turns to come and sit with me, so the time goes quite quickly…

I received the news last week that I need Herceptin. I have done my chemo and ops, and will be starting rads next week, 12th March.

Do anyone else know why some of us are given weekly herceptin whilst others are done every 3 weeks?

I will ask my onc and see if I can get the weekly dosage - I can’t wait for it to finish.
