Lynn, I’m glad everything went ok with your first chemo, It is a strange a horrible sensation to know you have all that very toxic stuff running round your body…and waiting for the bomb to go off! hopefully you’ll feel no worse that you do right now, I wrote all my side effects down day by day for the first one and compared it to the second and it followed a very similar pattern…The first week generally being the worst and by the end of the 3rd you feel very human again…Don’t be frightened to book Maggie’s, they are very understanding with the fact that if you’re not well you have to cancel, it happens all the time. I was sitting with Helen and was putting makeup on with a temp of 38, hoping and praying that it wouldn’t go any higher and I’d have to drive round to the Beatson! Anne, are you popping in to see Sharron afterwards for the scarf tying session?
Well it’s lovely to see the sun shining, long may it continue…
Hi girls
This has been a busy wee site over the last few days. Will need to read through all posts again so that I can keep up.
Welcome to Anne and Lynn and hope that the forum will be of help to you. We’ve all been through so much but seem to keep bright and cheery. I’m sure you’ll cope OK.
Sharon - I am so sorry that your last treatment didn’t work. You must have been shattered but you are a fighter and I know you won’t let this get you down. There are so many types of chemo out there so hopefully they’ll get the right one for yu.
Carol - were you disappointed you didn’t get back to work.
Helen - can’t believe you’re drinking non alco wine. My daughter in law is pregnant and she has the odd glass. Says it’s awful. Love my wee glass of vino at night.
Wish I was young and able to come on your course. Sure you’ll enjoy and also have fun.
Hope you lassies going through your first chemo sailed through it. Everyone’s experience is different, so no amount of reassurance will suffice but nothing will happen that you can’t cope with, or that the staff can’t help you with. Keep posting.
Girls, I got my bone scan today, and was asked to stay back for a ct scan. I know this is nothing to worry about - I have had LOTS of sceletal injuries. Just would like to know if/and at what part of your therapies you were scanned?
Fiona yes im going to stay on to see Sharron, sounds very interesting.
Annie i had scans when i was first diagnosed, just to see if all was well, had to stay away from my daughter-in-law for 24hrs as she is pregnant. It’ll be the same tomorrow when i have the mugga scan, cant go near her hope shes ok cos only two weeks to go!
Thanks for the welcome Sheila, everyone so pleasant on this site.
WOW you have been busy on here recently haven’t you!!
I’ll try catch up when I get a min.
Sorry I haven’t managed to give some support to new girls, I’ve jsut been really busy, as soon as I get my head together I’ll be back to my normal self. My wee brain frazzled at moment.
I just wanted to let you all know I maybe going to Royal Marsden in London for treatment! They have a trial on with a new drug called Neratinib, it attacks HER2+ cells from the inside out.
I was told I had 2 trials to choose from but when ONC got the information faxed she discovered that one of the drugs they already had at Beatson and was no good to me.
I was also told that after all this time they have now discovered that my cancer has always been Primary, although it is HER2+, it is resistant to Herceptin. They are hoping that this new drug may help as with everything else for me at the moment this is not a guarantee.
Obviously as it has spread it is now Secondary.
CT Scan shows tho that the chemo worked everywhere else bar the wee nodule and rash on chest!! this IS a wee bugger so it is!!!
This new drug will be easier as it’s in tablet form. Will hopefully hear next week what’s definatley happening.
So looking forward to next week, did you get an email?? what talks you on? remember girls ‘DON’T FORGET THE BOOZE’, wish i could take costume for a swim but can’t with this hickman line in.
I’ve got a wedding the Sat night but not sure if I’ll go yet.
Teresa - thank you for thinking of me and popping in, pop in anytime xxxx
Have a great weeken everyone, I’m hoping to have quiet one for a change.
SHARON - THAT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD GET ON TRIAL AT MARSDEN.
I’M SURE YOU ARE WILLING TO TRY ANYTHING AND GO ANYWHERE IF THE TREATMENT WILL WORK. GOOD LUCK.
HAVE HAD GOOD DAY WITH MY 8 YEAR NIECE. WE WENT TO EK TOWN CENTRE AND SAW FILM HACHI WITH RICHARD GERE. IT’S ABOUT A DOG THAT HE FINDS. LOVELY FILM BUT SO SAD. CARA WAS SOBBING COUPLE OF TIMES AND MADE ME CRY TOO. HAD A WANDER ROUND SHOPS - CARA’S FAVOURITES THEN HOME.
FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAT TAXOTERE HAS STOPPED. STILL ON XELODA BUT NOT SO MANY SIDE EFFECTS.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE GOOD WEEKEND AND YOU MUMS, ENJOY MOTHERS DAY. FIONA MAKING DINNER FOR ME TOMORROW.
Thats fantastic news about the Marsden - fingers crossed you’ll be able to get on the trial. When will you know for definately?? Hopefully we’ll be able to have a celebratery (SP?) on Friday for you being accepted - I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
How are you getting through to cumbernauld on Friday?
Hi All - Just back from LGFB workshop, enjoyed it - thanks for the heads up. Didn’t know anything about the sharon bit afterwards so unfortunately couldn’t stay on. Anne- Lovely to meet you and wishing you all the best for Friday. Hope all well for everyone.
Great news Sharon. They are pulling out all the stops for you and I am sure you will beat this buggerdy thing. You are stronger than it is. The very best of luck.
Anne, you are going to be a granny! My wee neice Kez is due in a couple of weeks. I cannie wait! She and her dad are coming up from Blackpool on Thursday for a long weekend. Gotta pull the finger out and gut the house. Everything has slid as I have been bone tired and had 2 infections in the last 2 weeks. Normality - please come back! I was halfway through painting the bedrooms when I was dx last Jan and havent got round to finishing it. For all the girls going through chemo, I have just discovered sun dried strawberries. They are great and give you an energy buzz. Good fibre too! Just thought I’d pass it on.
So glad you are feeling better Shiela, now that no more nasty Taxo! I see that al-megrahi’s prostate cancer has responded to Taxo and that he might have another 5 years. It’s a harsh regime though, but so effective.
The LGFG day is great isn’t it Lynn? So many lovely goodies and great hints. I’d love a refresher course …
The auld cat has finally come round!!! he is still very ungainly but doesn’t seem to be in significant pain and he has even been playing with his sibs. He seemed to recover all of a sudden - last Monday he was still howling with pain. It broke my wee heart.
The muscles of the thighs still don’t seem to work and I am very wobbly on the old legs - had a wee episode at Hairmyres this morning getting Herceptrin. Just faint and jelly legged!
Have the best time at the Young Womens Forum! Wish I could attend.
Hi all, yes thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon at LGFB Lynne it was lovely to meet you, talking on computer not the same as face to face is it.
Annie yes going to be a granny again, my grandaughter Samantha is 18 and this will be the second one. Some age gap eh, it’ll be like starting over again but im looking forward to it.

Hi All - Hope all enjoy ywf - something i think i’ll look into in the future, it must be good meeting up with folks you’ve only known in cyberspace previously - i know how nice it was meeting Anne at the lgfb workshop. Anne - very best luck for today, let us know how you go.
Day 11 today - had to go to docs yesterday, really sore mouth, its thrush aparently, disgusting and sore - other than that really can’t complain not compared to how others have it, lets hope it stays at that manageable level throughout - what are the chances???
Hi everybody, Well yesterday a busy day for me first fec in the morning which wasnt too bad, then came home was running around everywhere not really thinking to much about the chemo, up at hospital at 9.30pm my sons girlfriend had a baby boy at 10.22pm, he is beautiful. I came home at 12am, was feeling very tired and managed to sleep all night. Feel ok this morning, whether that will last i dont know, no side effects as yet. Just felt tired last night probably with all the goings on of yesterday.
