Hi i am 34 and married with a little boy of three and I was dx with dcis 2 days after my birthday in dec 2006 and had a mastsectomy and recon of my left breast in jan 2007 and when I got the results it had turned cancerous in my lyphm nodes so i was then told i was to start chemo and rads as a precution as all the cancer had been removed with surgery, i have now finished my treatment and am on tamoxifen and life is slowly getting back to normal thank god.
I would like to hear form young women in my area and maybe start a group up to help other young women, as i found out us young ones seem to get left to one side and the only women i had to talk to was older women for which two have become life long friends to me.
so if you are interested PLEASE get in touch would love to hear from you
Love to all

Hi Elaine
I live in Romford but unfortunately I am 50 years of age, 47 when dx, so probably don’t fit in with your criteria. Never mind, hope you make a success of your good idea.

Hi Elaine - I live in Chislehurst -SE London - about 30 mins from Thurrock. I am 38 but was 34 when originally diagnosed (had WLE, 1 node affected, 6xFEC, rads, ovaries removed, tamoxifen and now Exemastane) - had high grade DCIS back in same breast this summer so just had mastectomy with ld recon and due for other breast to be done in Feb. I am marreid with 2 boys aged 10 and 15.
I would love to meet other young women in this area - I did go to the local group 4 years ago and all the ladies were lovely but all older with me and at different stages in their lives.
Take care

Have 3 children, 15 months, 5 and 7. Would love to keep in touch…not sure if I’ll be up for travelling yet tho’ - depends how the chemo goes.

We have area forums on www.bcpals.org.uk commonly referred to as “the other site”. People regularly arrange meets with others in their area. It is also possible to exchange contact details there; BCC do not allow you to exchange contact details via their forum.
BCC have a younger womens telephone group where you can speak to others, but this is nationwide as opposed to local.
I fully understand why bcc won’t let you reveal contact details here. Anyone could google and find them and infiltrate any meets you plan. On bcpals our posts are not open to the worldwide web. You have to have breast cancer or be at high genetic risk to be able to join us there and read the forums. We also have a private forum for Younger Women under 35. The two sites are quite different, but complementary and there is much to be gained by being part of both.
