Anyone get shivery when on Chemo

Hi,

My mum had her 2nd session of chemo on 18 Nov and has just finished 5 days of the GCSF injection to boost white blood count. She still gets shivery and has done on and off since the start of her chemo. Anyone else had this? She doesn’t have a temp, does feel the cold and isn’t moving around so much. Could it be a side effect of the injection? The thing is she worries when she does get shivery as she is scared of being admitted again.

Thanks,

Julie

Hi,
I was freezing through chemo and my temperature was 34.5 when I took it and not much higher even when in bed. I wore a hat in bed as most of your heat is lost through your head and no or thin hair doesn’t help. My ears would really hurt if I didn’t pull it right over my head. I started to realise why my Dad always wore a hat in the winter :). I also wore slipper socks in bed as my feet nearly fell off, well felt like it. Have you though of an electric blanket?
Good luck

Hi,

I have had x3 FEC and whilst on this like the others felt cold most of the time and had episodes of shivering, until I felt better which was day 11. The shivers then went. I have just started TAX and have felt fluey and shivery on this too for most of the time up again until day 11. I had a mild temperature during this time but it didn’t go above 37.5. I wasn’t sure whether it was the old white cells struggling to fight back or whether I was having menopausal symptoms. I think it might be the former as the shivering has stopped. It may well have been nuetropoenia at that point but because fortunately with no associated infection or rise in temp, it does seemed to have sorted itself out.
Not sure if this helps - good luck to your mum.
