Hi All,
Is anyone going on the Odyssey holiday in the West Midlands on July 20th?
Jacquie
Just bumping this up to the top
J
No, but I did the West Mids one last September and had a fantastic time and did some amazing things that I would never have got to do otherwise, also met some really nice people.
I would thoroughly recommend everybody to go on one of these
Hi Jacksy and Chukki,
just noticed this comment. can you tell me what the Odyssey holiday is please, I’m intrigued!
Thanks,
Ann
Hi Jacksy
Annie on bcpals is going to the July one.
For anyone interested the website is: odyssey.org.uk/
You can either apply online, or ring Charles direct - number on the website.
All the information you can have is on their but no one is allowed to tell what the did :). Look very carefully at all the pics on the website - there are clues! I went to the Kent one a year ago and it was truly fantastic and memorable.

Why can’t someone do luxury cancer holidays for slobs?
I’m someone with a real co ordination problem and a dislike and fear of anything remotely sniffing of PE…can’t swim, can’t skate, can’t stand heights, don’t sail and don’t want to.
Most people really love Odyssey holidays and good on them but to me they sound like an outward bound holiday from hell.
And then there’s the worthy Penny Brohn Cancer Centre in Bristol with vegan food, relexology galore. Or what about a BCC workshop to show me how to put on make up and tie my headscarf (well I’m a dykey kind of woman who last used lip gloss and foundation 30 years ago and I look like a transgendered music hall artiste in a hat.).
Why why why can’t someone arrange a free cancer holiday for me in a luxury spa setting…non compulsory massage on tap. Maybe a bit of creative writing and art therapy but most of all lovely food and drink, some gentle walks and opportunities for good discussion and conversation.
I don’t want to sail for cancer, discover the big outdoors or chant my way to health…but wow a luxury free break with other like minded women with cancer would do me a power of good.

I am with you Jane a bit of pampering would be fab!!!
Hi Jane,
That’s what I really need right now too. Warm sunshine, gentle walks, trees and flowers, fresh air. lovely food, paint to splash on canvas, music to soothe, time out, swimming pool or gentle jaccuzzi, ooohhh!
I haven’t any energy for anything more than that.
Ann
I would also second pampering… I’m getting the excersise and have been told it helps with fatigue blah blah so yeah the outdoors stuff I can do myself but I don’t have a daily massage and I wouldn’t complain at that. I need to a wormhole to somewhere warm.
Hi Jacksy
Thanks for mentioning this group, I have just seen your info and registered to go in September,it looks fully booked so Ive asked to be put on the waiting list. It sounds brilliant and challenging!

I have been booked to go on the Scotland one in September, i am still a bit apprehensive about going. Is anyone out there gong on this one ?
Mary xx
Yes, these outward bound holidays sound a bit ‘worthy’ to me (finding yourself and all that stuff). I too am too lazy and I did have a spa break at Chamneys just before my treatment. It was great. More pampering needed as nearing the end of chemo and sick to death of it all and its horrible side effects.

Thanks for all your replies. Good to hear of others who have enjoyed one. Just to put people’s minds at rest, when I spoke to Charles, he said they believe in being outdoors all day, but (most nights!) being indoors in the evening for a nice hot meal and a glass of wine. Sounds perfect. I love being outdoors anyway, and will relish a bit of a challenge. It does mention music and art on the website too, so I’ll be in my element I think.
Thanks Dawn for mentioning Annie - I’ll get in touch.
Have a great time Debbie and Mary - I’ll let you know how it goes
love Jacquie x
