I have now finsihed my Epi…yahooooo but after no 3 I got a dry cough which the doctor didn’t think was anything but gave me antibiotics to be on the safe side. They did help clear it but now it is back again and what a pain in the butt as it really is very dry and tickly and with all the coughing I now feel like I have been punched in the back.
I know these things are going round so not sure if its linked to to chemo or not. My trial nurse didn’t seem bothered by it.
I am not bothered( catherine tate Laurens tone) by it just want the thing to go.
Did anyone else experience this when they have/had Epi?
I really don’t want to go back to docs but its lingering and my bladder control is just holding up with this cough!!! Joy huh…
I had a really dry and really tickly cough at the beginning of my chemo - i.e. during my FECs without the F which I think is Epi!!! from memory it was about FEC 2 but if you check throughthe "anyone starting chemo " thread it’s somewhere in there i think
it got so I couldn’t speak without coughing … I just coughed and coughed and coughed … I couldn;t really have a phone call as all I did was cough … and … it did resulting me peeing on the sofa … and once on the bed … and I had damp pants a couple of times !!! in fact visiting anyone for a coffee was out of the question for a few days … due to both the cough and the lack of control …
the very very odd thing was that once it had cleared up I didn;t get my usual hayfever … i could smell the flowers and everything …
I didn;t go to the doctors (only because I didn;t realise that I should have gone) and overal it lasted about 2 weeks with the horrendous coughing only lasting several days
so although i’m not sure what you should do about it at least you know you’re not alone
and the funny thing is that now I don’t EVER cough … today I have a slightly runny nose - the first nose activity since the beginning of chemo
It so annoying plus you become so worried about everything now once you have BC…well I do.!! Right pain I miss trusting my health.
I will check back on your threads…
I get hayfever too so this could be part of it I guess…and the pain in my back in bothering me.!! I do think its from coughing…and crossing my knees…lol…
Hiya, I, too, had my last dose of epi today - half way through chemo now - yippee!
I’ve had an occasional tickle but nothing really worth mentioning. I have had constant hiccups at times, though, which has been quite painful - i.e. pulling on my reconstruction - and a runny nose, which I’m told is due to the loss of nasal hair (lovely!).
Hope you manage to get it sorted. Are you on CMF next, Paula?
Fizbiz, I’ve seen your posts - low neutrophils, delayed chemo - am I right in thinking that your second dose of Taxotere is imminent? Hope it goes well.
I have had horrid cough all through Epi and also through 2 courses of Cmf , the stuff I bring up is disgusting , think Its from nose more than chest. I am asthmatic though so poss does not help.Soooooooo glad you got your last EPI today NAZ did e mail you , so you have answered my question.
Love Bobbiexxx
Naz…excellent feeling isn’t it having last Epi…I felt more anxious about my last one than any of the others. I am just getting bit more energy now after 1 week. No I am not having CMF…I am on TACT2 TRIAL and having accelerated chemo. I have had Epi every 2 weeks with booster jab 24hrs after each Epi and next week I start taking tablets- Capacetabine for the remaining part of chemo. Ohhh the drippy nose is fun isn’t it when you lean over and a huge drop appears…!!!
Hope the hiccups clear…
Bobbie…eeekkkkdid you go to docs about your cough? or did chemo lot say it was part of the Epi? I am not coughing up anything…well only a couple of times but its that dry there isn’t anything there to cough up.
Well I will see what doc says today but will call chemo nurses and check with them.
My cough started about six months after chemo finished - AND LASTED SIX MONTHS!!! That was about 18 months ago. I really thought it had spread to the lungs but it hadn’t, thankfully. I had two lots of antibiotics and in the end codeine linctus cleared it. Oh, but it was a nightmare. I went to the quacks a couple of weeks ago because I’ve another cough which won’t go away.
On the whole, life is grand and me lad’s getting married in two weeks.
I developed a slight cough as soon as I started FEC. I thought it was slight asthma due to my daughter having a horse, and me being allergic to horses! Although she is good about stripping off after she’s been near the horse, there’s bound to be the odd hair around. Am glad to see that it may not be her horse causing it. I find the inhaler helps. Funny I don’t cough upstairs though…so I suspect the horse/daughter is to blame.
Nobody seems bothered, even the anaesthetist who put my hickman line in yesterday, so it’s not too bad, just irritating.
