i am currently waiting for a surgery date, having been diagnosed 12feb with grade 3 invasive ductal bc with nodes involved i have opted for a bi lateral mast, even tho only one side has been dx.it would be nice to chat/ meet with someone in the same area who is perhaps waiying for surgery, or treatment plan to start or in progress

Don’t quite fit your criteria but have not long finished surgery chemo and radiotherapy in this area. Have they not told you about the support group - I understand you should get invited soon after diagnosis. I was but couldn’t go. You should meet others in your situation then. I gather they only invite you early on and after treatment has finished. I know I would have found it useful. As it is I don’t know anyone else here with bc.
Anyway good luck with your surgery.

Dear sarcath, i got an invite to a support group, but its on the day i have my surgery!! i shall ask 4 another invite tho…i have a date now for surgery, which is 17th april…u didnt mention whereabouts u r located
love, jaki xx
Sorry - computer has been out of action! I am at Beverley. Where are you? I only had single mastectomy and had no problem with it. How do they know you have nodes involved? They only told me after the surgery.
Are you going on to have chemo or radiotherapy?
I hope to get to that meeting next week.
I do wish you good luck with your surgery
Best wishes
Sarcath
hi sarcath, i am in bridlington, the nodes showed up first on the mammogram, so they then had to work backwards from there (Ive always been different, LOL)i get my post op meet with surgeon on weds, so will know at that point my treatment plan,…they have already said 95% chance of chemo/rads. i met a coupla ladies roundabouts while in hosp, and we’re gonna keep in touch. bye 4 now
love jaki xx
Hi
Hope your op went well. You don’t say! Did you have it in Hull? Or do they do it in Brid? So did they remove all your nodes? I am interested since I had 2 positive after SNB and they did not remove the the rest which worries me!
Chemo isn’t too bad - I can see that in retrospect. Not much fun but doable and nothing to worry about. The chemo nurses are great - so friendly and understanding.
Let me know how you go on.
Love Sarcath
PS I didn’t get to that meeting after all - had a cold and just didn’t feel like it!
Hi all
I live in Market Weighton and didn’t get an invite to any support groups!?! I have just finished all my treatment but have felt so isolated living in this area as I am only 29 and feel so alone. I really could have done with having a peer support network. Maybe I will ask about this when I go for my first follow-up on 3 June.
On the positive side though, treatment and staff at Castle Hill and PRH were fantastic.
Thinking of you all x
Hi everyone
I just wanted to mention a couple of the Breast Cancer Care Support services which you might be interested in:-
The first is a telephone support group where you have the chance to get together once a week to talk with people in a similar situation to yourself. It works by linking you together by phone so you are able to discuss the practical and emotional impact of living with breast cancer. The groups are completely free (we pay for the phone calls) and as long as you have access to a phone and have a quiet private place from which to call, you can join us from anywhere in the UK.
There is also Breast Cancer Care’s peer support service. The telephone service aims to quickly put you in touch with one of our trained peer supporters, who has had a personal experience of breast cancer. Our peer supporters are from diverse backgrounds and ages and have experienced different types of breast cancer and treatments. They are ready to listen, offer skilled emotional support and share their experiences and understanding.
For more information about these and our other support services available to you, please telephone our helpline on 0808 800 6000 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm)
I hope you find this helpful
Kind regards
Sam
