Anyone in Hereford had delayed LD flap reconstruction?

Hello,
I had a unilateral mastectomy 7 years ago (January 2011) and for various reasons, did not have reconstruction at the same time. It is bothering me more as time goes on and I would now like to have a reconstruction. I would have to have a latissimus dorsi flap as they said I was too thin to have a breast made from stomach fat, so I gained a stone and went back and they said I was still not fat enough!

I am in Hereford and wonder if anyone has had an LD flap reconstruction at Hereford County Hospital? A bit specific, I realise! I am 53 years old.

Thanks,
JSA

Hi

I don’t know whether it is worth you having a look at the PAP reconstruction.  I was 49 and was also too slim for a diep and could not have an implant due to damage caused by radiotheraphy.

This operation is micro surgery and uses blood vessels, and fat but does not take any of the muscle from your thigh and I believe is one of the newer techniques of breast recontruction.

Maybe have a read about it.
