Hi, I just wondered if anyone in Stalybridge, Ashton, Oldham, Stcokport would like to meet up and chat somewhere mutual, I am 44 and have undergone a bilateral mastectomy, I have not yet started any further treatment as I am having nodes removed shortly. I feel it would be nice to meet up with ladies for some support and comfort.
Molly44
Hello Molly,
I live in Droylsden,Im under Mr. Ellenbogen at Tameside,my BCN is Vanessa(angel in plain clothes,I had mx in May,R.T.at Christies. Im a bit(?)older than you,but as the lonely hearts column would say,
G.S.O.H. Did you know about the drop in centre at Darnton Rd side of the hospital,it is on the 1st&3rd tues of the month and they seemed a nice bunch but I didnt stay long enough to get to know any of them. If this sounds like your scene, please meet up with me then if we decide we dont like each other we can just talk to the others!
Look forward to hearing from you Love Mags
Hiya Mags, I was under Mr Kishore although he was off sick so I saw a consultant called Mr Debris who is wonderful and did a good job of my mastectomy! I also have Vanessa as my BCN but have only met her once, I dont attend te meetings because I dont want to be scared off. I was only diagnosed 8 weeks ago so things happened so fast for me, I am still very scared and need to have all my nodes removed on the 14th Aug, so I havent started any treatment yet? I feel the worst is over after loosing both breasts and the initial finding out, what else can be so bad after that? I am scared of the hair loss etc, but feel its a small price to pay to regain the quality of life I want to have!
We could perhaps meet for coffee somewhere? Do you drive? Do you have a family, my youngest is only 4yrs with my eldest at 16yrs???
I scare easily so dont tend to go on this too often, only to check my posts!!
Love Molly
Hi molly, Ive just typed an enormous message to you and its dissappeared into cyber space,Im furious! Id love to meet up with you,I could drive to Stalybridge or we could meet in Ashton or we could go to the drop-in together(safety in numbers). They actually seemed a real friendly bunch,Id only gone to try and have aword with Vanessa but she had a queue and my hubby was waiting in the car,
thats why I didnt stay, even though the biscuits looked nice. Just so you can form a mental image of me,Im 57,just the one boob,a short growth of silver hair(chemo finished March)and although Im still a scaredy cat about B.C.Im always ready for a laugh, miss going to work terribly at times but I can call for a chat anytime. So do contact me, well meet at your convenience,my youngest is 34 so dont have to really consider him and my hubby will be glad of an hour on his own.
Take care,love Mags xxx
Hi ladies,
Im from oldham and would love to meet up somewhere, im 53 with a 13 year old girl and a 32 year old girl, was dx 8 weeks after the birth of my youngest daughter, at the moment i am having probs with my operated side cant believe it after all this time awaiting doctors appointment this week,
hope you have recovered from your op now mollie.
Mags i was treated by mr ellonbogun at tameside.
Hiya lucy,
What a bummer that must be after all those years, what kind of problems dare I ask? How long have you been medication free and are you still under Mr.Ellenbogen? As I said to molly,I have lots of time
and can drive, also familiar with Oldham(lived in Chadderton for 9 years)so the 3 of us can arrange a meet-up.Im really looking forward to meeting some more "new friends",got to know some great ladies at Christies when I was going every day for R.T.,regretted not keeping in touch, although Ive got some of the best friends anyone could ask
for, think they`ve all heard enough of the dreaded B.C. So Lucy, would
you be interested in the aforementioned drop-in or would you prefer
neutral territory,as soon as Molly replies we can arrange something,
it may have to be soon as her chemo starts this month. Love Mags xx
Hi Mags,
I have been having trouble with my armpit and arm for about four weeks, things feel rather strange and i keep getting pin pricky feelings down my arm it seems to stop at the elbow, im just hoping its not the onset of lymphodema as apparantly you can get this at any time after node removal even years on, i got discharged from tameside a few years ago and was transferred to wythenshaw for my anual check ups, and i was totally discharged from there last May, although now i wish i still had some kind of backup, any way will have to make do with my GP advise for now and see what he thinks.
I have been on Femmara for a few years now after doing 7 years on Tamoxifen.
Im willing to meet anywhere, i dont drive but im not afraid of public transport lol, is the drop in centre in tameside hospital?,
Looking forward to it as no one really understands like we do has much as they try to and i find as years go by they think its all in the past oh how i wish!
Take care,
Kay (Loocy Loo)
Hiya Kay,
Wow,all those years on medication,do you think it will be for life?
Im on Femara, took a few weeks to get used to it,felt constantly nauseous, then realised it was the calcium chewy things that were doing it so I bought a multivitamin that claims to supply the maximum vit.D and Ill have to avoid icy patches next winter, dont want to beat B.C.then die of a broken hip! The drop-in centre is in the old building of Tameside(darnton rd.)its too late now to arrange
for tomorrow, would you be able to get to A.U.L.centre if molly gets back to us? Maybe we could have lunch together in near future,I dont know how to send private mails,do you? Was this site in existence when you were first diagnosed? I dont read all the threads cos I start thinking Ive got lymphodema or tumours elsewhere, that was why I saw Mr.Debris last week,my other boob is very tender plus strange feelings in my other arm,he was very reassuring but wouldnt let me have a mammogram, more or less said another tumour couldnt grow while Im on Femara, paranoia is almost as bad as cancer. I`ll have to get spruced up for our meeting, you & molly are both a lot more glam than me! cheerio, hope to see you soon, Love Mags xx
Hi mags,
I have sent you a private message but am not sure how you get notified of it, think it should be somewhere in your profile,

Hello Molly, are you out there? I did send you a private message but my computer skills are pretty limited so Im adding this in the hope you will read it. So how was your op and whats your next step. How much pain are you in and are you getting through daily family life?
would love to hear from you,me and kay are meeting up when her youngest goes back to school. I went to the drop-in at Tameside last
week, the next will be Tues.1st Sept but Im not going cos I see Dr. sykes on 3rd,can`t do 2 hospital trips in one week. Take care, love Mags xx
