good to hear from you. Have you had all your treatments etc. I am only just starting along this long road. I go in on Thursday for my op, complete node clearance and WLE or maybe mastectomy (decision yet to be made by me) followed by chemo, radio then drugs. When were you diagnosed? Karen
hi Karen,
I was diagnosed in March, after a misdiagnosis last september.Am having my chemo first because of this.Im looking at possibly November for a double mastectomy (my choice).I have grade 3 multifocal invasive ductal, with a full lymph clearance.
Its a long road and sometimes you feel down sometimes u feel strong but either way a positive attitude ive found makes u get through it quicker !!

and Shazza when you have your op ?
I live near Bromsgrove and was diagnosed in July 2007. I had my chemo and radiotherapy at the QE in Birmingham and overall I have no complaints.
I have just had a TRAM flap reconstruction done by a surgeon who works from City hospital Birmingham. he is fantastic and I am very pleased with the results so far.
Karen, I hope the surgery has gone well for you today, let us know how you are doing when you are up to it.
Hope you are keeping ok. Had my WLE last Thursday and all the lymph nodes removed. An outreach nurse has been coming in daily to do dressings and change the drain. Feeling pretty yukky but improving day by day. Stitches out on Thursday, results next Thursday when I think I will be told whether I need more surgery or they will give me the date for starting chemo. Another procedure over with. Take care Karen xx
Hi, I live in Birmingham but don’t have breast cancer but do have a bloody big lump which has been poked, scanned and biopsied +++ with continuing indeterminate results. The Consultants and the MDT are recommending I have it out (it’s 7cmx2cm) but as it will leave quite a large dent in my breast they have suggested a ld flap operation. I do have the option of having it monitored but the possibility is that it could grow, or that they may have missed something when biopsying because you obviously can’t biopsy an entire lump. I am obviously pleased that up to now there is no indication that it is malignant but am in a confused state of mind about what to do next because a big op seems a major step when it could well be benign. Anyone in a similar position???

Hi - I’m in Warwick, so not too far away from you. Diagnosed 1 April 09(!), had WLE (ok with clear margins) and SNB. 22mm, Grade 3, nodes clear. 6 cycles of FEC, 4th & 5th cycles delayed due to low neutrophils and 6th due yesterday but neutropenic again (0.8) so have to wait another week for my last one. Then 25 rads at Coventry followed by tamoxifen. Being looked after by the wonderful Prof Grieve at UHCW. Hope your recovery after the op goes okay for you.
Hi Wills I know this is a bit late, only just seen your post I’m in Brum Was diagnosed Aug 2008 with lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Tested positive for BRCA2 April 2009. Hope you’re on the mend now xxx
I live in Solihull. Was dx in June 09 and have had the works due to my young age of 33. Ive had a lumpectomy, chemo, mx and rads. Have finished all my ‘active treatment’ and am now on Herceptin.
Life is finally returning back to normal…hair is growing thick…back to work…and counting the days to my first holiday since all of this in June…boy do I deserve it !!!
Good luck with your journey…am here to answer any questions you may have and hello to all the other girls on this thread !!!

I am so please for you.
I have been having tests since the 8th Feb, finally diagnosed on Monday! I have grade 2 breast cancer ductal oestrogn receptor positive waiting for Her2 results. part of me feels so relieved to finally have a diagnosis!
I live in Bournville, feel positive, husband very scared. I start chemo on the 17th May…haven’t told my 2 boys want to wait until my eldest has finished his year one uni exams and comes home end of May & my youngest is due to start his GCSE’S in 3 weeks.
I would love to chat when I know more about what it is going to be like…first chemo…eventually have themastectomy & reconstruction at the same time.
I met you yesterday at Solihull Hospital (I was the one who is on Herceptin) What did you think of the meeting?. I will definately use the insurance company that was recommended when I go on holiday. Have you experienced any side effects from the Herceptin? My sense of taste seems to have gone strange again. I am booked for a bone scan next week due to the pain I have been getting plus its my 2nd lot of Herceptin so I will be at Heartlands quite a bit next week!
Hope you are ok, it was nice to meet you.
Take care. Love Karen
