My BCN phoned me and I have Grade 3 Invasive ductal BC stage 2. I am going into ARI tomorrow for a heart scan and Next wed 4th for a bone scan. I have a meeting with Dr S re chemo on the 6th. The plan is chemo first then operation.
Must admit I do feel a bit better knowing what is happening.
Hello to everyone and it is good to hear you all have a next step in sight. Alanaa-maybe Clan would advise on mileage as they are used to these queries. As I lived fairly locally I just had a 14 mile round trip each day for treatments and radiotherapy.
I live on my own and coped OK with a few visits from friends, my sister, and my son came from Canada for two weeks. You will get there.
I am enjoying the break down here and catching up wih my friend who has supported me through all of my cancer journey with a daily e mail which was a real help. The journey took a lot out of me so I had a very quiet day yesterday.
The trolley ran out of everything , even hot water so I was glad I had taken a flask and sandwiches.
Hope the hospital trips go fine.
Things are a bit quiet on here - how is everyone doing? Well I hope.
Had my 2nd FEC on 30 Dec so have been lying low - a bit down actually what with New Year and knowing there is still such a long road to travel. Minimal side effects so shouldn’t really be complaining.
Keep saying I must phone CLAN and book some relaxation classes but keep putting it off. Don’t know why - strange really.
Well must go and have a quick hoover and dust, look forward to hearing from you.
Hello to all and wishing everyone a healthy 2012!
It is hard to get through the festive period without a sense of misgiving for the misfortune we have been dealt however all we can do is look forward to good times ahead rather than back. Each day is moving us forward in the right direction. Easier said than done I know!
I had a lovely time in England with my friend and her family with lots of laughter and therapeutic tears. The journey back went smoothly despite the wild weather. Its good to be home and my cat is pleased to see me.
Had my pre-op assessment yesterday for surgery on Tuesday. Just had my lovely neigbour in for a coffee and a chat as she is going to take care of my cat while I am away. I wish she would not tempt me with her home made cake as I am built for comfort not for speed and have been doing well over the last few weeks with not eating any cake but gave in to temptation this morning.
In 4 days it will be all over and done with and the road to recovery will be that wee bit closer.
Hope all of you ladies are fine and that you have a nice weekend ahead of you.
Hope you are all well and have had a nice weekend.
My weekend has consisted of dog walking (plenty of it), spending time with family, housework and relaxing. Three and a bit weeks post op and feel good, restriction is less and everything seems to be healing up very well. I suppose it will just take time to get “used to it”. BCN was on phone last week, results are delayed due to hols.
Best of luck for Tuesday Alanaa, let us know how you are when you can. Will be thinking of you.
Its a lovely sunny day here in Aberdeen though still a bit sharp out. Its supposed to be 11 degrees tomorrow and I have no hospital appointments at all this week - yipee! so I’m planning going into town for some retail therapy. Have a few things to return to M&S (xmas presents) and hopefully get replacements.
Car53 - Glad you enjoyed your trip away. Is it today you return to work full time? I’ve been off since 17 August and have no idea if and when I’ll return.
Anng - Hope you don’t have much longer to wait on your results but good to hear you’re healing well.
Alanaa - Good luck for tomorrowq and let us know how you get on when you can.
Nicola - How did you get on at your meeting for your treatment plan?
Nina - I see your appointmet is on Friday so good luck for that and let us know how you get on.
My treatment plan not totally in place yet. Bone scan was clear tho! yippea! Was told that I should also have had CT scan (which still havent received appointment for) fingers crossed it comes in soon. I am back in on friday 13th and should get date for chemo to start then.
Just popped on to wish Alanaa all the best for tomorrow! I pass ARI on my way to work and home so will look up and think of you for next few days.
Good to catch up with everyone’s news and hope next step appointments arrive / go well. Nicola: Really pleased to hear your bone scan is clear.
Georgie- enjoy your retail therapy and having an appointment free week.
I had a Shiatsu massage at Clan this afternoon so finished my first full time day early and am now suitably chilled out. Not sure what I will feel like when it comes to Friday. Part of me enjoys being back at work but the other part just resists the high stress factor and frenetic pace so I may start to consider other options.
A parcel arrived today from my son from Canada containing the cosiest slippers you can imagine -like mini duvets for your feet. I plan to put them on and have a feet up in front of the telly night.
Take care all

Back home since last night and feeling much better than I thought after the mx on Tuesday. Still have the drains but they should come out over the next few days.
I have to say the staff at ward 42 are just great. They made everyting as easy as possible and could not have been more caring or helpful. ARI should be very proud of them all.
Hope you all are doing fine and thanks ever so much for your kind words and thoughts it is much appreciated.
Treatment plan in place now! I have my first chemo at 11am on monday morning. Pleased, nervous and a little scared all at the same time. Will let you know how I get on.
Alanaa - great that your feeling so well and didn’t have to stay in ARI too long.
Nicola - good luck for your first chemo. You’ll be fine - its just the fear of the unknown. I have my 3rd FEC on Friday and so far its been not too bad.
Ann - hope you get good news tomorrow.
If I’ve missed anyone’s appointments - apologies but please let me know how you are.
Good luck to both Nicola and Ann and Alanaa with trips to ARI tomorrow.
Your first chemo is always scarey but be reassured you will find the thought of it is worse than reality.
Hope Ann gets positive results.
My next appointment is a week tomorrow -been a long time coming but I am so looking forward to some reassurance!
Georgie: do you have any appointments this week?
I coped with my first full time week at work. I was in bed by 9pm every night to make sure I didn’t get tired out.
Another week ahead!
Keep smiling.
what time is your appointment at clinic E as mine is at 11am
Hope you are keeping okay. I am feeling fine so far and hope I don’t have to wait for the results to long as that is the most distressing time.
Fingers crossed my drains will be coming out tomorrow as my cat is convinced it is a new toy for her to explore.
Alanna I am not there until 3.15pm, shame I will miss you. Really hope you get the drains out. I have had to wait a while for my results because of the holidays so hopefully you won’t have to wait as long.
Good to hear everyone else is doing well. Nicola best of luck for your first chemo tomorrow.
Car53 not long to go until your appointment.
Had a nice day today catching up with a friend. Off to bed soon, am quite tired tonight.
Ann - I’m on the same road - chemo and Herceptin which I am told are the belt and braces in the fight against this horrible disease. The thought of chemo is terrifying but you will find that its not as bad you think. I have my 3rd chemo on Friday and so far so good. Minimal se’s. Drink plenty of fluids before and after and I found ginger ale relieved any sicky feeling. Didn’t need to take any of the anti sickess tablets. Watch out for chemo mouth - you will get a mouthwash from the hospital to use and I found using a kiddies soft toothbrush helped too. Feel free to ask me anything that springs to mind and I’ll try to answer if I can.
Nicola - hope your okay after your chemo and your se’s are minimal.
Alanaa - how did you get on with your drains?
Car53 - glad your getting on okay at work and it won’t be long now until your appointment.
