Hi ladies, i have estrogen positive breast cancer , but chemo pushed me in an early menopause.I have been having extreme symptoms and tried several medications without any resolution.I am considering taking HRT despite some cancer risks increase. Is anyone in a similar situation and if so , what’s your experience please? Or i am the only one , who is in this situation?
I am also considering it! I am triple positive and have been on tamoxifen for 4 years. Last year I had a hysterectomy and they removed ovaries. It has been a next level of hard. Quality of life means something and I am considering getting on estrogen. Would love to hear any feedback.
I appreciate the responses. I just read the book “Estrogen Matters.” It truly is so fascinating and I highly suggest anyone dealing w breast cancer, tamoxifen, menopause, etc read it. It starts into the cancer research at about chapter 6. I couldn’t read the whole thing fast enough and it has changed my views
I agree. I read the book. I am 78 and took hrt for over 30 years, very happily until I got a very early dcis, 2 foci-12mm and 2 mm, no lymph node involvement, had a lumpectomy, but no radiotherapy as I asked for a second opinion and was ‘outside the window of opportunity’ and was put on Letrozole. Stopped the HRT on diagnosis and suffered a full blown menopause! Now I fell like a 98 yr old at times, by bones ache, by back aches, my hair is thin, I have no eyebrows, numb fingertips, skin of a tortoise, and 10kgs heavier than I have ever been before! Just seen the info about DIM and I3C so will explore that!
I had a lumpectomy for a 5mm oestrogen positive cancer in 2018. I stopped taking HRT but the reappearance of menopausal symptoms was horrible (mood swings, huge night sweats and aching joints). I spoke to oncologist, who said that quality of life is important ! And i was back on HRT (low dose Femoston Coni 0.5) Bliss.
