Hi cher33, I also had epi + cmf. My hair started to grow back in early January as I finished the chemo in early March. I thought I was imagining it at first!
Anyway it grew back just the same as it was before, fine and fair coloured. Everyone said it looked really good short. That was in 2007. I now wear it just above
my shoulders and I’ve had highlights in it a few times.
Good luck with rest of your treatment.

i was told it should grow back well but not nec the same… it will be strange to have hair again
hi cher33
i done the epi-cmf combination too. My hair started to grow back a few weeks into the cmf cycle and by the time i was finished I was able to ditch the wig and go out with my very, very short hair, but i was just delighted to have hair !!!

I am on Epi/CMF. I have just had my 2nd lot of CMF - 2nd dose 10 days ago and my hair has just started growing back. It came back first on my legs/underarms and eybrows. Then finally this week I have noticed it growing on my head aswell. The chemo nurses said i should have a covering on my head by the third dose of CMF and it looks like they may be right.
Good luck

hi and thanks for replies, feel a bit more happier now i know i wont have to wait for end of treatment for hair to start growing back!!
I’m due to have 6 more CMF although not sure if my veins will take that much more, already have phlebitis in my good arm so am now having chemo and blood taken from my arm I had lymph nodes taken from ( you know the arm they tell you never to have blood taken from or anything done to!!)
Hi Cher,
I had E-CMF chemo last year, finished in Oct. My hair started growing back with a vengence as soon as I finished the epi, and by the time I went for my final CMF I was going ‘commando’ with quite a nice covering of hair. Since then it has continued to grow v.v.quickly and I’ve actually had to get it cut several times as it was curly and out of control!
Just to reassure you, I had 80% of my chemo’s in my afftected arm, as there were no veins at all on the other side. I was concerned initially, after having had all my lymph nodes removed, but the nurses at my chemo day centre totally put my mind at rest. They said the procedure is sterile and uses the vascular rather than the lymphatic system so the risks of lymphoedema were minimal. So far so good!
Take care and I wish you well with the rest of your treatment,
Kelly

Thanks for help, you have put my mind at ease on the hair and vein problems. Am wondering now is your hair still curly, or has it settled to what it was like before?
Cher
Hi Cher,
as my hair is growing it is becomming slightly less curly but there’s defo still chemo curl there, so I use straighteners now! Was chuffed to bits when I used them for the first time!

Hi,
I have finished 4 x cycles of Epi and i am now on my second cycle of CMF and my hair started to grow back about 10 days into the first cycle.
At first it looked very blonde but as my scalp is getting more covered (by the day) it looks like it is coming back dark brown (my original colour).
It is a lovely feeling when you can feel the wind running through it…things you used to take for granted eh…
Good luck with yours Deb xx
Hi Cher, yes it will start growing when Epi finished. I LOVE my new short hair, feels wonderful. My veins were totally wrecked and last CMFs were in the ‘banned’ arm, but personally I would rather have it in there than straigh tinto my heart via a port. That said, people seem to survive it very well…good luck Zoe x
