went docs yesterday, and he just told me to contiunue with my sleeping tabs until my treatment has finihsed, as i was sometimes taking and then sometimes not,i had a much better night sleep last nite,
i have cropped my hair now but always have a hat on in the house, my 6 year old came up to me and said “has your hair gone now” so i said yes do you want to have a look, he said “no” you are still beautiful anyway, my other son saw me for the first time and seemed mezzmerized by it, (cant spell) but said i looked lovely, thanks kids for cheering me up.

Hi Everyone,I am back from a week in Italy and had a wonderful time. Didn’t end up in an italian hospital, thank goodness!I wore a mask on the plane-a bit uncomfortable but worth it.Went to two operas in Verona- there were 20,000 people in the arena-no problems-must be lucky eh.
Have managed to keep up with you all on my phone whilst I was away-clever stuff! There seems to be lots of new people and lots of discussions about wigs, hair loss and scarves.I have got used to the no hair thing after a fortnight, Wore scarves during the day in Italy and the wig in the evening as it was too hot in the day. Even bought some new scarves while I was there.I wash my head with aqueous cream-works well and is really cheap.I see you have all been putting your photos on-will try and do mine.
On Sunday I am having a tea party in aid of BC. Hope it doesn’t pour with rain.If anyone is in the Reading area ( I imagine that is highly unlikely) I would love to see you.
Can’t get my head round where you are all at, but hopefully will catch up. Hope you are all doing ok.
love to all

Hello everyone
I had my first FEC two weeks ago, got the next one a week on Tuesday. Am dreading the injection that helps the platelets as the achy legs seemed worse than the sickness and tasteless mouth from the chemo. My husband says he will do the injection, but im nervous about that too, just not a good one with the needles!
Still have my hair at the mo, keep expecting to wake up and find my pillow covered. But I did manage to survive the cold cap routine so fingers crossed, I get to keep my hair for a little while longer.
Had a port-a-cath put in a week ago cos my veins are a little shy and they worried that they would give up. Went to see the surgeon last night to have it checked and he said it looked ok and to take paracetamol fo the pain and that it was early days. It hurts like a dull ache most of the time, sometimes a sharp pain but damn uncomfortable. Spoke to a woman who had it put in the same day as me and she has already used it for her next dose and she said it was great! Has anyone else had one of these put in? How did you find it?
Thanks
Julie
sorry your feeling a bit rubbish today sally but im sure the lack of sleep didnt help.
hi julie… why does your hubby have to give you the injection? can you maybe get some emla cream from your gp before the injection is iften used for children or needle phobic people its a cream you apply to the injection site about an hour before you get your jag and makes it go numb… i used to use it sometimes for vaccinating children when i was a community nurse and they are the biggest wimps so im sure it would be helpful.
i dont have a portacath personally but met one of the girls on wed and she said it was really great… she didnt mention about getting it inserted but she felt it was a good way to get her chemo and herceptin.
Hi Lulu
The nurse did my first injection and she is willing to do the rest but says it better if we do it ourselves at home rather than having to make a special trip to the hospital the day after chemo. I guess I just a little nervous of doing it myself.
I think I going to have some of that numbing cream put on my portacath in order to use it, so thats a good idea, thanks
Julie
Good evening all,
debonair thanx for letting me know evie is ok i was getting really worried that she was ill…
Another hectic day for me, got a friend making me “scrub” caps in wild colours, ready for the inevitable, at the moment we are working on a chinese black silk one with gold dragons for the evenings!! i already have a batik purple and turquoise, yeloow gingham with white daisys, and multicoloured batik.
Got a fringe today from chemo shop to stick inside them as I have a fringe now, should be fun!!
daisydaisy glad you had a great holiday.
Lulu Im having FEC but no injections??
To all wig wearers, have just ordered “Comfy Grip Therapeutic Wig Band” from US Ebay, they look great and this was the cheapest place I could find them, the only UK place to stock them is out of stock and charges £41! I paid £18.32!!
Have a good evening
xx
mumszy i think the injections are just because Julies bloods must be a bit lowered and means shes a bit more at risk of bleeding and bruising if the platelets are reduced.
Mumszy, you sound so organised with yr headwear!!! I just keep looking at mine and getting obsessed as to whether it is coming out!!
Sally I hope you are feeling better now.
Hope everyone else is well,
love Debs xxx
debs you should have been resting when you put last message on!!
Im a kinda organised person though some say Ive got far too much stuff for my head, but hey thats what everyone looks at!!
Have lovely sataday all,
xx
Thank you everyone telling me about your CT scans thank you chrisonly1 ,yes i think you are right about me not having CTscan so where they found your CA if it wasnt on the mamo?..I am day 10 now and feel much better normal again…take care everyone…
Hello All
Not sure if any of you saw this in one of the national papers. Ginger reduces chemo sickness, Researchers found that cancer patients that took ginger capsules a few days before chemo experienced a 40% reduction in symtoms. So this time i am going to try the ginger tea made from root ginger to see if it helps. Anything is worth a try.
I am on day 17 of second fec and feel very normal and have done all week so I am making the most of it, as next Thursday is chemo day and then I am half way through which is another milestone.
I have bought another wig a short blonde on so I now have a choice and about 10 scarfs. Think i should stop buying then now.
Mumszy, Think i may have to get on of the comfy grips does it help???
I have the injection for the blood count seems to have worked this time but I have the nurse does mine as I am a bit if a wimp.
Lulu,Sally and any one else feeling c**p Hope you all feel better today.
Daisy Daisy, pleased you had a good hol it does you good to get away and be noramal for a while.
Hpe you all have a good week end. Take care Marion xx
Thought it was time i put my pic on here with wig no 1. As everyone else is doing it.
Mumszy, i was a bit early this morning wasn’t I!
Marion I found nibbling ginger biscuits helped with the sicky feeling and have just discovered Nairns Oat cakes with stem ginger, at the ready for FEC no 2!
Hope you are enjoying the weather, love Debs xxx
ginger is good for nausea like morning sickness too… i just usually keep a stash of ginger snaps as they work for me… but still not feeling sick and havent even taken all the meds i was given after chemo on thurs… hope all you sick girls feel better soon.
i have a new problem too… puckering skin below the nipple on my affected side… saw gp who didnt exacly reassure me saying ‘surely it couldnt be another tumour’ so have to contact bcn on monday to see if i can get it checked at clinic… its probably just related to surgery which was 5 weeks ago… but cant help feeling nervous about it.
marion your wig is great looks very natural.
Marion your wig looks lovely too honey! Ive got 3 will do uplaod of them when I have to USE them at the mo thats me and my own hair though not looking anywhere as nice as it did then, anyone else think it feel bit dead and lifeless?
Pauline have such a wicked time at take that ill be thinking of you…
I could have got through last chemo without chises ginger tea and ginger biscuits! Bought some lovely stem ginger too- didnt see article but it sure helps me.
At mo I need help with my granny hips and back, all my joints ache big time when I stand after sitting or lying for a while, hoesestly what a dcrepid load we are!!
Gna try sleep again
xx
Hi everyone. Y
es Marion you look great as a blonde!
Mumszy sorry you are suffering in the joints department - i had 1 day like that ( 2 so far) and hated it! Hope it passes for you too.
My ginger biscuits are still in storecupboard, but despite a good start i now feel like i have a stone in my stomach and dont want to eat - a miracle for me! Even water seems to feel “heavy” when i dtink it. Best for me seems to be Canada Dry ginger ale, and fruit teas…
Someone told me about LifeMel honey yesterday and how it helps prevent the low cell counts. Coincidently when i checked out various supplements with onc he said “ok, but you know the only thing there is any real research on is … strangely enough…honey!” It is phenomenally expensive but decided after i read the research - what the hell… Im not spending on frocks at the moment lol. If anyone is interested link is lifemel.co.uk and from here you can access the research done.
Glad you are feeling ok Debs and Lulu.
Sally hope you are starting to feel better - we are missing you already.
Sent you a PM Krisi.
when o when will i feel like a wine again???
Love to all
Chris
