anyone starting chemo in August?

Thanks Hun xxx

Quick response from Facebook girls. Lots of people have used them but but say your skin might be a bit more sensitive when on chemo so to try a test patch on your hand first. A few have also found that they had trouble getting them to stick. Might be worth having a go xxx

Spikyred, can we use any make? Don’t worry if you don’tt know, thanks for info xx

Thank you Sakura. I have sent you a pm. x

I’m thinking, perhaps those individual ones - bit more fiddly but you could just have a few at the outer edge of the eyelid…

Lols, no one has mentioned a particular brand but if they do I will let you know. I’ve never tried them before but if the lashes start to go will be strongly tempted. Xx

Hi ladies can you let me know if you find a particular brand. Before all this startedi looked at something to make my eyelashes thicker as they are quite sparse in places and came across rapidlash serum on amazon. The reviews were good and a few from ladies that had just undergone chemo, it cost about £25, mine is now in its box eady for when ny chemo is finished, just thought i would share. X x x

Hi ladies after long day Thursday was only 1 till 4.30 yesterday and that was because they were running 1.5 hours behind so not to bad had not reactions to any of the drugs so will have chemo, herceptin and perjeta all together next time so hopefully will be a lot quicker taking all the tabs I’ve been given so feeling fine at present, just put flaming washing out and had to fetch it back in again as the heavens have opened bloody weather. Well of upstairs to do a bit of ironing then I think a chill ax this afternoon might be on the cards Rose xxxxx

Well done Rose, glad it all wet well for you yesterday and will be easier in the future. My washing is out and my fingers are crossed for no rain! I hope you have a good weekend with no SE’s xxx

Glad it was better for you yesterday Rose have a good weekend.Chezza hope you feel better today hun.
Ivorymummy I am making lots of notes as to what everyone is finding works for them keep the tips coming thanks.
Have a good weekend ladies love debs x x x

Has everyone got the seabands? They are supposed to be brilliant for the sickness and nausea xx

hi Gilly I got anti nausea bands from a pound shop and they seem just as good! Stingy or what. My friend also sent me some magnets to put on my fingers, she has just been on the phone asking how I had found them, I didn’t admit they were still in the box! Have to dig them out I think.

To be honest the antiemetics seem to be working fine, I am taking them religiously at the right times and drinking lots, have had ginger tea and biscuits but mainly cos I am very hungry!! It feels a bit like being early pregnant when if you don’t eat you feel sick if that makes sense! Washing and ironing is more than I am doing today!! I have done my exercises, showered and chatted to 2 friends on the phone, then come up to the PC as the pad takes longer to type on! Lazy devil, but had so little sleep I don’t feel very energetic. Thanks for all the good wishes though girls, it does help. Right I might stir myself to make some lunch…not that I am obsessed with food at the moment!!

take care all of you

Jacquie xx

Eat little and often is what they told me, dont try for big meals. Did the steroids keep you awake last night?
They put me in for an afternoon appointment for my first one, but I asked them to change it to the morning so I hopefully can get some sleep xxx

hi everyone my bandanas came today have tried them on and think theyre more than ok, still would like a wig sorted before i start so maybe will look online later. my OH seems to have changed overnight talking bout coming with me to my next oncol appt and also to see the chemo nurse and unit, his mum was really horrid last night bout my hair but then told my sis in law she thought it was nice, also kept on bout me being fat.
anyhow have as good as you can, chat soon xx

Hi Pendragon

Sorry to hear you MIL was so thoughtless. With regards to your earlier question about wigs, when I saw my onc her assistant gave me leaflets to explain the chemo I would be getting and a voucher for £100 towards a wig. She gave me a leaflet that gave details of the local hairdressers that accepted the voucher and I made an appointment with one of them. That way I only had to pay a small amount towards the wig myself (could have got one within the price of the voucher but I wanted a nice long one)

Girls I got sea bands other day cost me £8, gutted now didn’t realise you could get cheaper ones. Well done tylerrose that sounds like the worst one over with then. Glad your not too bad jacquie you all make me realise that although chemo sounds horrendous I don’t suppose we get every single side effect and it can be done.
really hot and sunny here at the mo, just came out of Asda and heat hit me, went to look at eyelashes and forgot!!! Going to,have bit of a talk to ys in a minute then a glass of wine to calm down cos I’m a bit annoyed with him, the joys of motherhood!!!
I got my furry hat today from annabandana quite sweet really, and some more bandanas that I have just tried on son ( we have had our chat)!!! So I now know what il look like as he looks a bit like me but a younger, taller version. By the way he loves the hat and would wear it himself!!! Bit worrying!!
did they change your appt gilly? I was wondering about that yesterday but oncologist didnt have a clue about appointments etc, early the better I think.
glad about OH pendragon, don’t worry about mil, you think about you Hun. Xx

Penderagon, really sorry but you MiL sounds like a cow! How dare she say all that to you then say something different to your SiL. I cannot stand people like that.
However I am glad OH seems to be coming round (just don’t let him near his mum too often would be wise though!). You need the support from him. Maybe he did hear your neighbour!! lol
Some people are so bloody odd. I have my own issues with eldest step daughter, very different to yours though.- I haven’t seen her since before my diagnosis(18th April) she texted up to first op(5th June) and my birthday(7th June). Last text I recieved was - Happy birthday, hoping you are ok, will pop round with your pressie later. Well I am still bloody waiting nearly 2 months later and i haven’t heard from her since then. She didn’t even bother getting her dad a fathers day card or pressie. Yet I know within the same period she was out doing lunches with friends, buying friends who had just had babies pressies and she has to collect her daughter from school which is over the road from our house.
I have told OH not to bother letting her know what is happening to me as she obviously isn’t interested and have said she needn’t bother coming round our house because I don’t want her here. Do feel sorry for him though.
If it was beacuse she couldn’t cope with me having cancer I could understand it but its not that at all. She is just a totally self centred being and my cancer is all a bit too inconvenient for her!!!
This is the final straw as far as I am concerned.
Sorry for the rant ladies. I am usually such a mild mannered person!
I have just had a lovely morning shopping with her little sister though who lives with us so who cares about the big ugly sister? Certainly not me!
Anyway ladies have a lovely day I am going to lay in the garden xx

Hi ladies thanks for all the encouragement, just finished all my ironing, other half says that’s enough now and chill, pendragon try and ignour her regarding your hair shes obviously very lacking in empathy, think I’m going to have my cut short Tuesday before it starts falling out and told my daughter as soon as it looks patchy she can zap it of with her dads hair clippers, I’ve already sorted wig and bandanas so no probs, have a good afternoon ladies feet up time and a film me thinks, then vac upstairs lafter when OH not watching lol xxx Rose

Hello all, can I join Amazing Augusts too please? I have a tentative start date of 12th August, will be having vinorelbine and cisplatinum, also rads at the same time. I don’t know yet whether I get both drugs at once or if its a course of one then the other, and have no idea how many cycles of chemo I’ll be doing, as my oncologist is on holiday till Monday!
I’m a second time around girl, having done 4xAC and 1xT 6 years ago. Not sure it helps having been through it all before, but I’m happy to share my experience!
