Hi lovelies sorry to hear that many of you are having down days I hope you all feel better soon , I am still very tired and nauseous Annie and am just resting and grazing on foods I like through the day alot of fresh fruit etc it is helping , I am listening to my body and just doing what I feel like doing , hard for a mum I know . HoPing you all feel better soon and good luck to those at the bar tomorrow ruthy1, Christinevw And bakeswhenstressed , I’m sorry if I’ve missed out anyone I need to update my list and good luck to those with appointments too love Dee x
Oh u girls do help! Feeling better thanks to your lovely posts and a walk in the sunshine, not good on a bike so I am very admiring, now feel less like lugubrious eyore and more like pooh bear, not quite back to Tigger yet! Annie hope you’re a bit better now too? Horrid day 5 or 6 with the comedown after the steroids. Still at least keeping a diary of how you feel each day should help with the next cycle?
Good luck for tomorrow 3 musketeers I hope hospital stay not too awful Katherine. Glad you have had such a lovely pre chemo weekend Gill times to treasure mean so much more to all of us these days.
Jacquie xx
Thanks for all the tips and advice. This forum is so active it is hard to keep up! I like the Eagles name for those of us starting on the 14th. Have got pre-chemo assessment appointment in the morning and hoping that there will be the chance to ask some questions about this dose dense chemo as it doesn’t seem that there are many people having it. Hope you all of my fellow Eagles (or whatever we end up being called) are enjoying their last weekend before this all kicks off. Sarah
Oops sorry. I am very very new to this forum thing and must have pushed post twice. I will try to improve my technical skills!!!
Dear Spikeyred,
I cannot tell you how much I am in awe of you getting on your bike and going for a 30K cycle. I haven’t been on my bike since my op and am so zonked out I’d be lucky to cycle to the end of the road! Well done you. I was particularly taken with the Christopher Robin saying: to Pooh, " you are braver than you believe and stronger than you seem".
Cheryl, I have updated you to the Dixie Chicks.
To our Three Musketeers (Ruth, Christine and BWS Katherine) up at the Bar tomorrow – Good luck. It’s a step at a time, but you’ll be okay. I’ll be thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes. To those of us already in the throws of side effects: lots of hugs and positive vibes to you all too. We can do it? Yes we can!! (Heaven’s I’ve turned into Bob the Builder!)
The list follows:
Onwards and upwards…

Evening Maisie’s … Thinking of you all whatever stage you are at. Liking the ‘Eagles’ for those of us up on the 14th… Could quite happily soar away right now! This horrible waiting is awful but its so reassuring to read your posts. Thank you PennyCrow for the updated lists … Sad that there are so many of us. Will be thinking of the Three Muskateers tomorrow x
good luck muskateers for tomorrow all for one and one for all!!!
Katherine massive hugs to you hope you are home before you know it
Well I didnt want my weekend to end with my family. Feels ike another huge hurdle ahead and next time I see any of them I will be bald. I remember going to visit my parents before my mx and thinking it would be the last time in the houseI grew up in with 2 tits!! I have some funny thoughts sometimes. This weekend had been planned since the spring and I delayed my chemo for it. I am just glad we all have the wonderful memories that we do now, it was perfect.
Good luck and love to the Muskateers tomorrow and to Katherine, I hope your stay isnt too bad.
xxxxxx
all the best for tomorrow musketeers. Katherine home your stay is uneventful and goes quickly , peaceful sleep all Maisie’s xx ju
Hi girls think I may also be joining you guys in this group! I’ve got my onc appt on Wednesday following 2 go’s at lumpectomy and node clearance followed by mx on 23 July. Mine was grade 2 with 2 out of 16 nodes positive ER positive HER2 negative. Suspect my chemo will be starting next week! Have to say I’ve read all your posts and YOU GIRLS ROCK!!! I’m in Lincoln don’t know if any of you are nearby at all! Loving your sense of humour and cheeky comments and I warn in!!! Cheers Barbs x
Welcome to our merry group Barbs, cant believe how many of us there are now, 48 I think. Penn will add you to our growing list. We are a bit naughty but I think we have to deal with this with humour as much as we can on good days!
I am down in Sussex, but there may be someone near to you xxxx
hiya Barbs welcome to the Maisies. Penny is brilliant organiser and will add you to the list.
hope we can make this leg of journey a little easier xxxx
Hello Barbs,
Welcome to the Mad Maisies – you are number 48 in the group that no one wants to belong to as the entry requirement, of chemo, is pretty tough. Here you will find, lots of chat, support, shared experiences and above all, laughter. Prepare for a mad ride!
I’ve added you to the list.
Best wishes,
Penn x
Yay thanks everyone! Much as I hate the thought of chemo it will be great to go through it with you lot! I feel I need to get ordering on annabandana if you’ve left anything lol this is certainly not what I had in mind for 2013 I actually wanted a facelift and a sports car!! Oh well shit happens
I have had my eyebrows tattooed though!!!
Hi there from NZ. I would love to join the August group. I had my operation on June 5 and had my first chemo on the 31st of July and therefore feel more in line with the August ladies. I will have 6 cycles of Fec - T and will follow up with 25 rounds of Radio. My first few days I was nauseous and really had an overwhelmingly metallic taste which was not nice. By the end of day 3 was feeling pretty good and in hindsight I have decided I was a little too confident as I then got a stomach bug that nearly knocked me out altogether. I spent 4 days virtually living in the toilet and even though I feel substantially better now still have waves of diarrhea but on a positive note if I can keep other bugs at bay cycle 2 should be sunstantially easier. Trouble is I have 5 children and there always seems to be someone bringing something home.
I have always had long hair and like many of you decided to get me hair cut short thinking it will be easier to lose short hair than long hair. Today is day 13 and no hair loss yet but from what I’ve seen from others experience I should be expecting hair loss by the end of the week. I am really dredding this!!
ha ha a girl after my own heart good on you with eyebrows Im too much of a wimp to have that done!
Hey ladies forgot to say I got one of the look good feel better sessions tomorrow so will let you know how it goes. Heard loads of good feedback and is one hsopital appointment to look forward to
heading to bed with the new James Patterson novel now.
rest well all xxx
Hi from NZ. I would like to join the August group as my chemo started 31 July. I have been having trouble getting my messages to post so hopefully it works this time?
Evening everyone
I had a few days away , so i have some reading to do to catch up with all the posts . I could be here some time lol. xx
Hello KiwiHelen,
Welcome to our New World brethren. As ever, sorry to hear that you have qualified for inclusion in the August Maisies by way of undertaking chemo in August. You will find here plenty of chat, discussion, advice plus lots of laughter (we are a mad lot!). I have added you to the list. You are number 49 in our group
Try not to worry about hair loss – what will happen, will happen and it is a visible sign that the chemo is attacking those fast-dividing cells (i.e. mopping up any stray cancer cells too).
Best wishes,
Penn x
