Well, I’m now fitted with a drain.
Hopefully this will help 
Surgeon thinks I have a leaking blood vessel from the surgery.
I’ll see him again on Friday and we can see how this works.
So far so good- I’ll need to empty tonight, so it’s hardly surprising I was swelling up so much

Don’t know atm Charlotte. I asked the CN how long this could go on for and her response was ‘we don’t know’.
I will, of course, speak to my surgeon on Friday about that and my results.
I have to say, the drain is doing its thing and it’s fairly easy to empty (first attempt at 8.30pm and I’ve just done it before bed).
I’m keeping a record of what/when to take in on Friday 
I’ll get it changed over then too…
I’m a lot more comfortable with it in, albeit it’s rather ungainly 
… I need to make up some other contortions for ablutions I expect!!

What about you? Are you starting radiotherapy very soon?

At least you only have a couple of days before you can get answers which I guess is good.
I’m feeling good but just so very tired all the time. I don’t know when radiotherapy will start, the consultant said I’ll hear from oncology in a few weeks. They won’t do anything until the wounds have healed fully and mine are still red and sore but getting better every day.
Hope you get some sleep despite the drain

Morning lovie,
Had a better night, but I’m having to try and sleep propped up on lots of pillows, and it’s not natural for me. That said it was nice to wake up without looking down and seeing a tight blue/green bruised hump where my floppy old girl should be
I think it’s doing a good job
I understand about the tiredness. That hit me quite hard too. Even the slightest exertion is exhausting… it’s getting better though.
I’m actually quite relieved to hear you say that you haven’t gone straight to radiotherapy. I don’t think either of us are up to being zapped just yet!!
I think we earned a bit more time to catch up with ourselves, don’t you?…
Hope the funeral was ok for our fellow BBB

Thank you all for your kind wishes. It was one heck of an emotional day especially as its been so hard on my husband losing his Dad a week after the 999 drama of my 2nd surgery but we’re through it now so time to move on. It was lovely to see my niece and nephew who’d flown over from Canada and the rest of the family. We had the wake at my BIL’s house and it was so hot we sat in the garden. Luckily I remembered my sunscreen for the top of my chest (at my dress neckline) otherwise I would’ve got burnt 5 days before radio starts, that wouldn’t have been good!
Onwards…
Alison (sorry I keep forgetting everyone’s names), sorry to hear you have a drain now. They’re a bit uncomfortable but will hopefully help dry you up quickly x
Charlotte, you will feel tired lovely. Give in to it, your body needs rest to heal x

Pleased that you got some sleep. Have you tried a V pillow, they are really good if you have yo sleep on your back and offer support when you are ready to roll over onto your side. Hubby bought me one and it’s been a lifesaver!!

I hate sleeping sitting up but it does help with this drain…
I took all my pillows, last night , and made myself a sort of barrier to stop me turning on my side.
My poor husband was probably left with the tiniest sliver of mattress to sleep on … he puts up with a lot, bless him.
I did a basket of ironing today (commando!!) - feel like I’ve run a marathon 
Just sitting down for a bit with a cuppa

I haven’t been home since my op cos of the dogs so I’m not sure if hubby is finding driving 10 mins each day to see me a chore or whether he’s loving living the single life again!
I can’t face ironing yet but I am doing some work this afternoon. Don’t want to tire myself out too much though as it’s Lily’s last summer league hockey game tonight and I really want to watch

I just did a bit of an OCD clean around my bathroom vanity (that’s where I’m doing the boob drain) as I’m a bit paranoid about sterile environments right now, and I’m absolutely shattered now!!

I managed a couple of hours of work then my niece popped over with her little one which was a lovely distraction!
Pleased that you are having a rest and I completely get the OCD clean ups.
Off to hockey now as I feel up to it, small wins

Well im having another go at driving in the morning. I finally have an appointment to have my dressings off. Seems to have been months but its only 2 weeks since surgery. Then I have to wait another week for appointment with consultant for surgery results. Everything just seems to take forever doesn’t it!

Good luck with the driving.
I had my dressings off after 14 days but had to do them myself. My follow up was just under a week later. It feels like forever I know but it’s good to know that they are testing thoroughly.
