Have decided to have lumpectomy. I don’t make a very good patient so the least amount of recovery time the better !

Hi Smak

You sound just like me regarding how you are as a patient! I too opted for a lumpectomy (double) and lymph node removal, my op is on the 10th.

Hope all goes well for you

Hi Smak

I’m terrified of hospitals too which is making this whole experience a lot more stressful :grimacing: Jyst trying to get a bag ready to take with me and I think it’s finally hitting home.

Hope you are doing okay and hang in there

It’s all so daunting isn’t it. Like it’s happening to someone else. I have a telephone appt with the surgeon tomorrow and I’m even dreading that !

Waiting for the treatment plan is hard I know. Hope you get it soon and join us on our journeys. Let us know when you hear . It helps to be able to share in here with people who really understand

Hi, I found once I had a treatment plan then it felt more real and I could start preparing more. I also found it easier to tell people once I knew what was happening. I’m lucky that they say mine is early stage so I do feel a bit of a fraud saying “I have cancer” when people are suffering much worse than me which is quite tough for me personally. Hope you get the details you need on Thursday. Thank you for your good wishes, op is less than 48 hours to go now :crossed_fingers:t2:

Hi Charlotte, not long for you now !! I think Cancer is Cancer no matter what size, grade , type. It’s a word none of us want to hear . I’ve felt myself minimising it in order to make family and friends feel less worried . Don’t think I takes them or me feel any better but I do it automatically. I think because I feel so well it’s easy to do. Weird that we now have to put ourselves through surgery and not feeling well to get ourselves better. Will be thinking of you on Thursday and wishing you well. I won’t be far behind you !!

Hi lovely ladies, I’m 6 weeks post lumpectomy but unfortunately had a 2nd surgery 3 weeks ago due a rare issue which reset my recovery clock. I found seamless crop tops (bra style) in Peacocks incredibly comfortable; I sized up. They have removable pads so you can add/remove whatever you need. £6 to £9 each and they wash well.
All the very best for your surgeries, see you on the other side xx

Well today’s the day when treatment starts :crossed_fingers:t2: Antibacterial wash done, nail varnish etc removed and I’m starting to feel very vulnerable without my “beauty” products on to face the outside world!

Good luck to anyone having surgery, getting results or their treatment plans today.

Here we go

Sorry to hear that you needed another surgery but hoping that you’re on the road to recovery now.

I was told by other patients that you don’t necessarily need special bra post surgery but after today I think I would say that it was worth getting. Thank you for your advice

Lots of hugs

Hi there

Just thought I’d check in and hope you got the treatment plan you were hoping for today.

Thank-you, I’m getting there x

Glad yours today went well. Totally rest up, more than you think you need, your body needs calories to heal. It can be frustrating at times but will be worth it

The consultant had the MRI results and it showed a bit of spreading so more biopsies were taken today. He still describes it as the ‘good’ cancer and very curable and I’ve started on tamoxifen today. Likely to be a mastectomy now though. Honestly not sure how I feel. How are you doing xxx
