Appendicitis

Hi Ladies,

I had appendicitis in Aug 07 and in Dec 07 I received a letter from my GP asking me to contact them urgently. I subsequently found out that I had a small carcinoid tumour on my appendix, which was quite rare - hence the amount of time in telling me.

The tumour was caused my a hormone produced by my appendix and as the appendix had been removed together with the tumour, no more treatment or problems were expected.

I then found my dreaded lump in Jan 08 - which I think was due to being more body aware due to my scare with the appendix.

My BC is extremely hormone sensitive and I just find it all too much of a coincidence. Both consultants have said that they are not related.

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this…? A bit odd I know!

Hi Kate

I also had a carcinoid tumour on my appendix when it was removed, it was 10 years ago, but it was one of the first things I thought of when I found my horrid lump. I don’t know if my BC is hormone sensitive or not but intuitively I feel there’s a connection. Do you know if there’s been any research done on this?
