Appointment with surgeon after bone scan worrying?

Hi everyone.

I’ve been a long time lurker.

Had bc 3 years ago with mastectomy and reconstruction.

Had ovaries removed at Christmas and been changed from tamoxifen to letrozole.

Had routine bone scan in May to assess risk of osteoporosis. Been waiting all this time for results….

Out of the blue j have a letter from my surgeon offering me an appointment with him in less than two weeks time. I haven’t seen him once since the surgery 3 years ago.

My question is….is that normal? Or should I be worried that the surgeon suddenly wants to see me after all this time?

Many thanks all,

Claire

Hi Claire was it a Dexa scan you had or a nuclear bone scan ?

Hia,

I believe it was a dexa scan x

Hi @tcr if you only had a DEXA scan then you it’s unlikely he’ll want to talk to you about secondaries in the bone, if that’s what’s worrying you. DEXA scans look for osteoporosis or osteopenia but don’t detect mets.
