It’s hard to keep up with everyone’s messages lol but I think I’m just behind you and @gromit12 as I’m due my 3rd EC on Friday if my bloods are ok. After the 4 ECs I’ll be on Docetaxel too. I met with my oncologist today and she said after my EC half I’ll move to every 3 weeks for Docetaxel due to having to get the Herceptin injections at the same time (and they have to be every 3 weeks). I’m just taking it as it comes side effect wise … Will see how I am with Docetaxel when it happens😂
I’ve been similar to you guys in some ways but not as bad by the sounds of it. My sore throats turn out to be thrush so I’ve been given stuff for that and from my next cycle she’s going to prescribe me tablets to take to hopefully prevent it moving forward. The Omeprazole is working really well for my heartburn/indigestion and she’s recommended I stay on 2 a day all the way through EC and Docetaxel since it’s under control now… what a huge difference it’s made! Feeling a bit more tired now but not wiped out yet so I look forward to that soon😂
I’ve got phlebitis in my right arm, which happened after my second EC and it’s still tender/sore to straighten. She did say that EC is worse for doing that than Docetaxel and I’ve to just keep applying heat, using Voltarol and stretching my arm out so it doesn’t seize up. I think I’ll ask them if they can use my left arm on Friday give the right arm a rest this time from the EC. I asked about a PICC line etc and if it would be required but they said they’d rather not do that due to infection risk unless necessary.
My last EC tomorrow, then it’s over to Doxecetal and herceptin. I am also going to take it a day at a time, and deal with what that day brings. Went out for a run this morning just because I still can. Good luck everyone. Laura xx
Slightly better today, still nauseous and the indigestion is horrible - I also do the falling asleep without even realising it thing! It’s so bizarre, there’s no way I could even keep my eyes open for another second. Taste is destroyed, I’m so missing enjoying my food! Let’s hope tomorrow will be better and the weekend sunny!!
@isthisreal I’m 2/4 cycles of docetaxel down after 3 of EC and to be honest, with the exception of the diarrhoea (which my team has given me some extra drugs for the 2nd time around), it’s much the same as EC for me. I felt better immediately after chemo than with EC, had a dip in energy/spike in side effects (heart burn, diarrhoea, full body tenderness - skin feels sore to the touch but manageable with paracetamol/ibuprofen) around 5-6 days post treatment and then slowly getting better until the next one comes.
@kartoffel i get the tender skin too for about 24 hours day 5 or 6, only way I can describe it is it’s like pressing a bruise on everywhere above the waist, my legs don’t seem to be effected, is this the same as yours? My legs get itchy instead but if I scratch them it leaves purple marks on my skin, taking piriton and using E45 which seems to help the legs x
Third and final EC done, and I’m half way through Cold cap was tougher this morning, and I felt woozy throughout. Nurse thought it was because I hadn’t drank enough, but toilet breaks are not the easiest!! Home now and just tried some toast- had a sandwich at hospital, but it was spam on white bread not even tempted by the ginger biscuits. wooziness passes
Yeah that’s exactly it, like pressing on a bruise. My muscles are achy but I can’t stand being touched bc it hurts. I think mine is all over the body, but it’s more sore around my midsection.
Congratulations @gromit and at least if you never eat spam again it won’t be a great loss I’d miss a ginger biscuit though here’s hoping the next week is kind to you, @kartoffel you just couldn’t make it up could you, such strange side effects @ivegotthis01 hope you are ok xx
@isthisreal it’s sore isn’t it! I’m hyper mobile in my arms so really feel it when I fully straighten them (as I tend to overextend without realising). Yeah I’ve noticed that too - I’m using my arm as much as possible and still doing weights sessions etc as it does ease off once I’ve warmed it up properly☺️ it’s an incentive to keep moving at least!!
Hoping an extra 2 weeks rest for it if I get chemo in the other arm tomorrow will let it ease a bit🤞🏻
Gosh i am so far behind!!! I’ve missed so many messages
So i restarted yesterday
I had phesgo first which if im honest made me go hot and cold and hot and cold again so it slowed things down again but we persevered and got both the abraxane and the carboplatin in. Both were given super slowly but went in nice and easily with no drama.
I know that anxiety is feeding into my whole process so i hope that going forward this gets a bit easier.
Today ive been largely okay! Had very sudden onset diarrhoea this morning and some bone aches!? Nausea has been mainly at bay so far but ive had about 3 naps and i feel exhausted now. Just about to do my filgrastim injection and i think thats it for meds except some metoclopramide before bed!
How is everyone else doing after treatment today?? Lots of you seem to be changing to a new treatment for cycle 4. Very best of luck with it!!
