Just to encourage all you ladies. Today the April 24 chemo group did the Bath Ultra Challenge 10km. Most of us are still on some form of treatment, three of us on Kadcyla. So there is life at the end of all this. Hang in there!!
Amazing
Brilliant! Iām in bristol. If Iād known I wouldāve come and cheered you on!
Iām in my way to my first chemo⦠As prepared as I can be. Hope itās all ok and feel ok afterwards today.
@bluecat1 hope chemo went ok and you are back home xx
Had a reaction to the docetaxel - was scary but they said all ok, my body reacting to it. They are now doing it v slowly. Prob here til 7pm ish. My daughter has come to sit with me
@bluecat1 sorry that you have reacted, unfortunately itās not uncommon. But hopefully youāll be fine now theyāve slowed it down. Good youāve got some company. Hang in there xx
Yes good now
Hi ladies, Iām just popping over from the November chemo starters to ask if anyone would like me to post them my suzzipad cold therapy socks and gloves? They were recommended by the chemo nurses to prevent peripheral neuropathy during docetaxel, I canāt vouch for their effectiveness, but I didnāt have any problems so they certainly may have helped. They were quite expensive, so it would be great if someone else gets some use out of them. Size small/medium. x
Now claimed!
Hope youāre ok!! Take it easy and let us know when youāre ready how you got on xxxx
Iām ok. Nearly home. Feeling ok at the mo x
Hello everyone, I start chemo on the 7th April.
I am 39 with an 11 year old son.
I have grade 3, triple negative and my tumour has doubled in size in 5 weeks. Have had a million scans the last two weeks and a picc line inserted today.
I will have paclitaxel and carboplatin weekly for 12 weeks and then AC every 3 weeks for another 12 weeks. I am also having pembrolizumab (immunotherapy) throughout.
I am scared because everyone I know who has had breast cancer is not getting blasted as frequently or for as long as me. I know my cancer is very aggressive and it scares me.
My twin and big sister are helping me, we lost our mum 3 years ago.
I was also pregnant when I found out I had cancer and lost the baby last week at 14 weeks and had to have surgery to empty my womb.
I feel like the universe is truly s***ting on me at the moment
Hi @yikes1 so sorry to read your story, please take your time, along with your sisters, to grieve those huge losses. No wonder you feel like the world sh**t on you.
The treatment schedules are so varied but I guess take heart that they are tailored to the individual cancer type /stage and the length etc is aimed at the best outcome for you. Take it a bit at a time, ask lots of questions and for whatever support you believe would work for you.
Iām in different place but also felt when I got my diagnosis (Nov 24) that Iād been kicked back down a big hole I was just climbing out of. It was less than three months after my husband died after a long illness.
Iām due to start my chemo this coming Monday after delays due to poor communication.
Enjoy the days you feel ok with your family. Allow yourself your feelings, they are valid, take good care of yourself and let us know how you get on.
Oh @yikes1 I am so deeply sorry for your loss and for having to navigate this at the same time. @carrie5 you too, Iām so sorry for your loss. Looks like cancer doesnāt care about timing . Iām going through a horrific divorce after years of an abusive and traumatic marriage. Single mom of a 9&10 yr old who are both in counselling due to the effects of that. Just when I was starting to heal⦠BC joined the party. Also starting chemo on the 7th.
Like @carrie5 said, each cocktail is so unique to the individual. I asked my oncologist this and he said they just know whatās the best drugs for the specific type of diagnosis. Longer length doesnāt necessarily mean a more intense treatment.
I donāt have much support so looking forward to keeping in touch with you all so we can encourage each other xxxxx
Thinking of you. Hope youāre ok xx
Thanks lovely people. Iām doing really well. Managed to sleep despite masses of steroids in my system!
They mucked up on the meds at the hospital pharmacy and as it was past 6pm, no doctors to approve prescription that hadnāt gone through - only the filgrastim injections (not until day 3). So my 29 year old daughter had to trek to the hospital this morning to collect. (They would have couriered them but I wanted the steroids early as possible). Meds now in my system For those interested Iām on dexamethasone steroid for days 2-4 each morning, plus ondanestron anti sickness twice a day, also days 2-4, then the (
hope okā:pray:
) filgrastim G-CSF injections. Also some other anti sickness if I need. Iām going to try and enjoy the time feeling ok before whatever side effects decide to visit me. I have a nice jigsaw puzzle to do sitting in bed which will be engaging, distracting, calming. No nausea so far, have been to loo so not constipated at the mo. Aware of slight stomachs with steroids and have a bit of a flushed face which I hear on here is normal. Feeling blessed that itās been ok so far. Being vigilant with mouthwash.
Next cycle in 3 weeks they will do the docetaxel much more slowly Iām on TC, docetaxel and cyclophosphamide. Drinking lots and therefore weeing lots
Hi there, I donāt think anyone has replied yet. Oh my gosh that is so so much, including losing the baby Youād be all over the place with that alone. All I can say is hold onto the fact that there is fantastic cancer care for you and everyone else. Thereās support here and people going through a whole range of situations. Sending love
You can also reach out to the helpline here with the breast care nurses
Oh sorry, now seeing replies to you
@saints33 You brave lady, leaving a bad relationship. Right decision but oh so tough, not even nice memories to help you. Make some new, better memories as and when you can. Hope things go ok for you treatment wise.
