April 2026 chemo starters

has anyone used CBD for pain telief some people have gummies i just wondered if this could possibly be an option ?

Thanks for the notes about EC. Ive got another 5 weeks of Carbo and Paclitaxel then I move to 4 rounds of 3 weekly EC. I will have done 12 rounds of carbon/ pac with immunotherapy every 3 weeks too. Ive read that the fatigue is really bad with EC, so I am getting geared up for that. Would love an update to see what’s helping. Ive struggles with eating with carbo, the metallic taste makes so much food taste absolutely foul

Hi @priscamum

I only had the single dose of EC at the end of April due to my cancer being confirmed as recurring locally five days later so in May I moved onto a combo of Pembro/Pac/Carbo for 12 weeks with Pembro/EC for the remaining 9, which sounds like a similar regime to what you’re on.

I did find the fatigue to be really bad with that first dose of EC, but it also passed very quickly. I had the chemo on the Friday and was completely back to normal by the Wednesday and felt physically fine the rest of the cycle. I coped with it by just going to bed, although I appreciate not everyone might be in the position to be able to do that.

Yeah I’ve noticed when I have the Pac on it’s own I don’t get the skewed taste like I do on the the three drug cycle. For me it’s like everything tastes just that bit less than it should!

Hi ladies

Hope everyone is having as good a weekend as is possible. This is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things but does anyone else have constantly streaming eyes ? My eyes just water constantly and the skin below gets very dry and crusty . Any tips for dealing with this?

Does anyone know where I can send things I’ve gotten to help after the mastectomy or chemo? Things like holders for the drains or the jackets with arm zippers to wear during the infusions? I found a UK based one but am looking for a US based organization or group. There are so many things that are needed for a short period of time.

Hi @laineyb73 I also have eye issues and recommend either a hot, damp flannel or something like the Eye Doctor eye-mask (having trouble inserting a link). My optician suggested it years ago. You heat it up or cool it then it’s very comforting and at the end you use a wipe to massage the eyelids and encourage the gunge to go away. I have also tried using Claritin as I seem to have got hay fever for the first time ever and it seems to have the bonus effect of reducing the side effects of the Filgrastim jabs.

Ive had ongoing eye issue since starting chemo. Blepha clean eyelid wipes are good, articifial tears also help.

I ended up visiting an ophtamologist as my issues are going on 2 months and had an infection in both eyes. Missed by gp and oncology team. So if nothing helps defo worth asking for referral.

I don’t @paytonnm_5 but could you share the UK one please on here or message me direct as I’ve got some unused stuff I’d like to donate too. Thanks.

The lady who runs this seems really really lovely! Here’s the link she is on Instagram.

I hope the link to her Instagram account works if not, let me know

Ah sorry I’m not on Instagram (dinosaur!). Is there a website @paytonnm_5 ?

Here you go @sam1204 x

Thank you! I’ve messaged them about the items I’d like to send. I just don’t want them to be wasted.

I feel the same. They are like niche things that you need for a short time but pretty expensive. I would hate to waste them if anybody knows any US based groups or people that do a similar thing please let me know.

Hey @paytonnm_5

Looks like this could be a good place to start.

Hi all, hope everyone is keeping well.

After meeting with my oncologist this week, she warned me that moving forward I am likely to need more chemo to keep everything stable in months (hopefully years) to come.

I currently have a PICC line but I am considering moving over to a PORT when more chemo is needed. Showering with a PICC line is really irritating and also having to go in for weekly flushes.

Just wondered if anyone here had make the swap or considering it?

Thank you.

Well done @lil56 for getting yourself there. I always had to brace myself going through the doors to the chemotherapy ward. At first the worst part was being alone and not being able to take a family member or friend for support. It felt like the worst first day of a new school/new job ever. I found myself getting braver as I went though and I hope you can also. We are all made of stronger stuff than we realise
