I’ve been on the APS brand of Tamoxifen for over 7 months now and although the first 3 months gave me hot flushes, slight achy feet and knee joints I have p[retty much been side effect free since.
I went to get my repeat from GP and have been informed that APS is no longer available and they wanted to give me Wockhardt. Having read many of the postings about Wockhardt I was a bit reluctant to accept the prescription so was advised by Pharmacist to get another ‘printed’ prescription from GP and source somewhere else for APS. I did manage to locate another pharmacy who also reitereated that APS has been discontinued and the company TEVA has taken over. Has anyone had any experience of the TEVA brand. I’m off to Australia in a couple of weeks for 3 months and didn’t want to change brands in the middle of trip (in case of SE’s), so GP wrote me up for enough to get me through the trip and I have managed to locate a few packs at a few pharmacists in Norfolk/Suffolk to tide me over until I get back. I was just wondering of anyone else has experienced the same problem and what SE’s TEVA may have produced.
Hi Leigh,
APS Tamoxifen was discontinued a while ago now ,i had the same problem about a year ago when i went to collect my perscription, and was told that TEVA pharmaceuiticals had taken over APS, ,but i still always recieved the APS brand of Tamox from TEVA up untill a month ago when i was changed to Aromasin , so i think that you will still be able to get it from TEVA but possibly they will change the name from APS to their own in the future.
Thanks for comments ladies. One of the pharmacy’s I have been to have informed me that TEVA brought out APS. What we do not know is whether the TEVA brand has the same ingredients as the APS brand so therefore less side effects. Guess I will find out on my return from Oz if I cannot get anymmore APS. Will try Asda’s as well though.
my pharmacist hasnt said anything to me about the change of tamox branding. I picked up a 3 month supply a few weeks ago. Will ask my gp when i see her this week.
