hi all, i am 39 years old and first breast cancer when i was 34 and had mastsectomy and recon then chemo and rads and put on temozifen,then last year on routine scan mammograme they picked up cancer in oppisite breast i was in my 4th year clear 
had lumpsectomy then had chemo and rads and now put on zolodex injections and aremidex, had this last time during my chemo, but this time I seem to be suffering headaches neusea stiffness feel like i’ve aged about 50years anyone else suffering? any sugguestions or maybe something else I could go on, i have just had genetic testing done and I carry the braca2 gene so gonna have tubes and ovaries taken away as precution, just not liking the aremidex at the mo
hi fish mum i also have a brca2 gene mutatation and had bilater BC first was hormone positive on tamox and second 3 years later was triple negative so just stayed on my tamox after i finished chemo.
the stiffness is likely to be from the arimidex there are other aromatase inhibitors you can try such as letrozole or exemestane but all AIs are know for causing joint aches… if you have your tubes and ovaries out this too causes bone pain… i had a hyst and ovaires out 18 months ago and have aching joints… one of the most annoying places i get aches is in my neck… very annoying… i could have changed from tamox at that point but chose to continue with it as my SEs arent too bad but i will finish on tamox next year and my onc may then recommend 2 years of an AI.
its possible that letrozole or exemestane may not be as bad on your joints so maybe worth while asking to try one of them.
