Hi , have been looking for suggestions on helping ease the pain of my joints since being on Arimidex. I take glucosomine, cod liver oil and multi vitamin, but my knees have forgotten how to bend , and my shoulder is very painful , whilst the rest of my joints ache but are manageable . I have become an old women as getting up and down is nearly impossble , not to mention getting out of the bath.!!! Has anybody any suggestions what might help ?
Very best wishes to all

Hi Ruffyf
You don’t say how long you’ve been taking Arimidex. My joints, especially knees, wrists and fingers were very still for the first six months but then eased off slowly.
I am still still in the mornings but it’s certainly not unmanageable and wears off within half an hour. I am still for bending down to pick things up and its then that it makes me feel really old (am 46 and don’t feel that most of the time).
However, I feel that the advantages probably outweight the disadvantages! I complained to my onc about the stiffness in the beginning and he told me to hang on in there as the side effects would ease and he was right.
I hope the multivitamins etc., help.

Sorry should have said I’ve been taking Arimidex for 2 and a half years
I find exercise helps particularly gentle yoga even if you have to force yourself out of the house. Good luck
Hi Ruffyp
I’m taking Tamoxifen and have been suffering similar problems as yourself , I have a
friend who is also taking Armidex and she put me onto Devils Claw its a herbal remedy
antinflamitory and certainly seems to be doing the trick might be worth a look I brought
it at Holland & Barret
Hi all
Can I just say that before taking any supplements it is advisable to speak to your medical team to ensure that there are no contra indications of taking them with your treatments.
Best wishes

Hi all, lovely to read all your comments on this one. Just logged on after an absence of a few months, as I am having awful joint pains. But am cheered up by the thought that they may get better after about 6 months (thanks Denio). I have been on Arimadex for about 5 months now, previously on Tamoxifen for a year, but onc changed me to Arimadex because of huge (2stone in a year) weight gain. Weight hasn’t gone down, but is steady now and appetite isn’t near as great as when on Tamoxifen. Am seeing GP next week, so will ask his advice about trying Devil’s Claw. Am currently taking gluucosamine and cod liver oil. Best of luck to everyone.
