I have been on Arimidex for 2 years now and my cholesterol level has risen to 7. I have just read the leaflet in the packet which states “raised or high levels of fatty substances called lipids in the blood” so is this my problem? Going to see the GP tomorrow to discuss. Don’t really want another tablet to take though!
For those of you getting hot flushes I have found this product called “Ladycare”. It is a magnet that you attach to your knickers just below your belly bottom and you wear it all the time. I think it works as I don’t have so many hot flushes. It only costs £20.00 and is much cheaper than vitamins or herbal remedies and it also means you don’t have to take another tablet!!
Hi Annette, My cholestrol has also risen due to arimidex to 6.1. They say at the gp that it will be monitored. I know they sometimes prescibe statins but like you I do not want any more tablets to take. i will try the magnets.
I have been on Arimidex for 2 months now and cholesterol ok at the moment but will moniter,my onc just brushed off the question about it raising levels but have seen on other threads that this happens and as for the magnet i got one just after i started the Arimidex as was having so little sleep at night and unless it’s a fluke i think it works so £20 well spent!
I started on Arimidex in July. My cholesterol level was already 6.1, and it was only through this website that I learned of the connection between Arimidex and high cholesterol. At the end of October I asked for a fasting blood test and sure enough my cholesterol had gone up to 8.2. I am now taking statins. No one had mentioned Arimidex altering my cholesterol and no one suggested I had a blood test.
I am therefore very grateful to the ladies on this website for alerting me to the problem.
