I was so proud yesterday to get back to work, a new job where no-one knows me. I know the weather is hot but what small amount of hair I’ve got became drenched, I was so embarrassed! Don’t mind the odd hot flush. Does anyone else suffer this?
Lots of best wishes to you all, Jilly
YES I DO !!!The hot weather seems to make the hot flushes and sweats worse. I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom which is a godsend and at work have a large table fan. I always have cold water (bottle or tap) near to me and keep drinking it to cool myself down. I am lucky in my job as have a small ground floor office (17th century dairy) so very dark and cool and just me and maybe one other there with me.

Oh yes. Very pleased to hear you are back at work, Jilly, Well done. You are right to be proud of yourself. It is so hard to go back to work after bc.

HI Jilly
I am not on Arimidex but on Tamoxifen. Been having the menopause for 10yrs And yes the sweats are dreadful. I keep my hair short but it gets soaked and I can feel it all running down my spine and cleavage. I have a desk fan at work and another beside my bed at home, always carry a fold up fan in my handbag. ! get between 16 and 20 in a 24hr period. Everyone at work calls them my Power Surges, but they can really drain you. Need to drink loads of water too.
I did buy a Chillow Pillow 3 weeks ago and its great am going to get another one as I wake 3 or 4 times a night with sweats and the Chillow warms up so I need 2 so that one can be in bed while the other one is cooling down!
Who needs central heating when you can have BC and the meds SE’s lol
love to all Wendy x
Hi Wendy ,
just noticed you said you have been having menopause for ten years. How long do you think the symptoms will last?are they reducing at all ?I get around 20 a day too, just don’t know how I can get used to this the thought of going through this for the rest of my life kind of gets to me I have only been through one year of this so far
Does anyone know why the flushes are worse when the weather is hot and why it takes so long for them to subside if one is already warm?
Thanks ladies, apart from aching, glad to know I’m not the only one sweating! I’m going out tomorrow to buy a hand held fan. Also drinking lots of water.
Best wishes to you all, Jilly
Hi Ladies
I am on zoladex and tamoxifen and was suffering hot flushes really badly last year, my GP prescribed Chlonidine. Its a blood pressure tablet that does have other names too but basically it works on the hot flushes as it expands your blood vessels which although it doesnt stop the flushes completely makes them far less intense. I started them in September last year after 7 months of suffering and things have been soooo much better since. I still get the odd really hot one but with a fan and the windows open even in the 30 degrees we had last night managed to get a fairly decent nights sleep.
There are loads of us on various forms of this, now the prescriptions are free try them, they may not be for you but you never know.
Good luck to all S x
I havnt used my chillow pillow for months and got it out to use last night but it doesnt seem as cold, Ive thrown away the instructions!! So can anyone tell me how I make it go cold again please? Hot flushes back again for some reason!!
Thankyou
Shirley
Hi BessieBoo.I hang my chillow out of the window on the evenings i have the window open until i go to bed but i have just read the instructions and it says you can refrigerate but not freeze.Hope that helps.Gill x
Thanks for that Gill, Ive put some more water in it too, and it seems to be working better now!

Hi I’m new to this site, can you tell me what a chillo is? I live in cyprus and the sweating is really getting me down. I have only been on tomoxafen for three months and I am struggling to cope with the flushes.
