I may have read about this else where but cant find it.I am triple neg so never had hormonals which can I believe predispose to arthritis,I did have taxotere.I have now developed a ‘clicking’ quite painful elbow. In addition my recent tibial plateau fracture means that my knee also ‘clicks’ when I try to exercise it.I spoke to my GP on the phone and she said she thought any chemo made it more likely that arthritis would develop and that both elbow and knee sounded like the early stages.Has anyone else had this and if so what treatment would you recommend? It is difficult for me to get to docs at moment cos of leg but she will talk on phone.
Thanks,Valx
Hi Horace!
I have friends who have definitely got arthritis as a direct result of side effects of chemotherapy. I have arthritis anyway (nothing to do with breast cancer treatment) and I take several supplements for it - some actually suggested by my GP. I take Glucosamine with Chondroitin (one combined tablet) 3 times a day at meals together with MSM which helps the Glucosamine to work better. Also take a natural anti- inflammatory tablet called Bromelain which comes from pineapples! My knees have been SO much better, but it has taken 3 or 4 months to really start working. Your GP will give you pain relief tablets, but they don’t seem to have anything else to offer.
Thank you redders I will try your suggestions now before it gets worse.

Hiya Horace hope leg not bothering you too much. I had athiritis before dx but it is soooo much worse now. In the last 6 months I have had my knee collapse on me and now my right elbow is giving me some trouble. I had an x-ray on my knee and there was a lot of wear and tear but nothing sinister, the doctors words. I didn’t think there was!! My hands are the worst but that has been going on for years. I try not to take anything as tab;ets upset my stomach. A lot of people take handfuls of glus something or other but I can’t get 'em all down they make me gag. Take care of yourself xx Eileen
