I think it’s good for men to be aware, although it’s less common in men it still happens
I got re diagnosed again last week 3rd time even though I had both removed first time so seeing adverts and asda pink ribbons I’m struggling with I do feel more awareness should be out there
I went for genetic testing last week, I can’t remember the last time you noticed an advert or booklets on how to feel your breasts in women and never seen one for man
They need to do a booklet about breast awareness for both male and female to help save lives.
Believe it or not there is a leaflet for men, which myself and Doug helped Against Breast Cancer , who have since merged with Breast Cancer now , it showed the signs to look out for, and how to self examine your chest…
Maybe it should be relaunched as a new leaflet, to rekindle that information….
I saw this topic when checking for new topics. I am female but have been talking about breast cancer with work colleagues. We are doing Wear it Pink on the 20th. The information pack has a poster about how to check for lumps, but didn’t have any information for men. I wanted that advice so that male colleagues could feel included in the conversation. I saw a couple of men at my local breast care centre waiting for their treatment. Seems like an opportunity missed by BCN
I think these need to be adverts on tv. As Iv said you don’t see adverts these days about how to self examine yourself, the idea is to learn your body and go to gp asap even if it’s nothing it’s always best. Any lump that you’re not sure off go.
I was due to be signed off from the hospital this month if I had I would have had to battle the GP again. I will never forget the shameful experience Iv had with my constituents and I will be writing to PALS about it once my head is clear.
You’re doing good keep pushing for men D. We have so many stupid pointless adverts that you think what are they advertising i thing breast awareness should be campaign books tv this is my opinion
Good luck with it

Hi the way to examine you breast for men is exactly the same way as for ladies using the four flat fingers to roll over chest area noting any lump or bump, then doing similar underbite armpits.
And yes looking out for obvious or subtle changes.
Mine was an obvious inverted nipple, I hesitated seeing my Gp, because two years before at a breast clinic I was told that the then excess fatty look and feel around both of my nipples was actually
Gynecomastia an overdevelopment or enlargement of the breast tissue in men or boys,
I was assured it never amount to anything ( how wrong that person was)
So self examination and change awareness is almost identical to the process for ladies.
Men sadly leave most change, too late meaning the grade of breast cancer is often higher, and as we know higher grades cause much more damage and outcomes are often poor.
The main message to men is, YOU TOO have BREAST TISSUE, and Blue get it TOO
And report any change as soon as possible. It’s more important for men to be vigilant if numerous cancers appear on both sides of parental families, this May Flagg up heridarty issues, I myself am BRCA 2 but strangely the link is from my fathers blood line.
