Hello all
That’s me done, last one…no bell though! (They were interested to hear that other places did that, as they thought it was an American thing ! ) ?
I’ve suggested that they could get a Ship’s Bell, as the Unit is named after a very famous ship…
They were a lovely lot of people, though, and I did give them a thank you card, I took a leaf out of Appletree’s book (sorry, pun was unintended!) and wrote them a humorous message. Blank card with a luxury spa type massage room picture, saying that ‘these past three weeks were not the deluxe spa treatments I was expecting …’ but whatever, they got me through it …!
Thanks Appletree, for the idea…!
So far, no skin breakdown…?
Lucaboo, all the best for your last one on Tuesday, and any others coming up too …
…just edited - well done jclark !, ?
xx
Well done ladies on the end of active treatment. Hopefully Helena will come along and ring the bells for you both. Enjoy the no hospital trips and continue with the fluids and cream over the next 10/14 days. Well done x
Thistledown - Congratulations on getting to the finishing line. Make sure you keep your fluids and the moisturising going. So happy for you. Best wishes Chris
Jclark4 Well done on finishing your Rads. Remember to still drink loads and keep slapping the cream on. Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the fast that no trip to the hospital on Monday. Best wishes Chris
Well done Thistle, Amy and JClarke for getting to the end of rads and the endless days travelling to the hospital xxxxx The sun will be shining, hopefully all weekend, so kick back and enjoy the rest while your bodies adjust themselves and settle down.
Remember that you will feel little pings of nerve movement and your skin might get worse before it gets better, but things settle down after a few weeks so just let nature take its course.
And don’t forget to book your 6 week follow up appointment.
Many gentle hugs one and all xxx
Hello all
Ding dong … I’m pretty seriously deaf but I swear I could hear those bells !!
Thank you so much, Helena, I’ve said this before but your support is wonderful to all of us, in dread and fear while going through this, and I’m so grateful, as so many many others are…
Dear Lucaboo, I am willing those hours away till Tuesday for you, and you can step off of this hospital travel treadmill and into some sort of normality too! Treat yourself too, yep, a bit - actually a lot ! - of pampering is definitely in order…
And to everyone else, Lilac, Gill, mcnulcc, Paulus, and all… you are a ring of strength, so privileged to virtually ‘know’ you all…looking forward to posting on the ‘After the Bell’ thread, in the meantime, obeying the drinking and moisturising rules ? - pings of pain and itchiness have increased a bit but that’s it really…? …
Off to boat tomorrow evening, staying over, hope the leaky roof holds up, nothing worse than a water leak on a boat !! ?
aww big welcome Zippet,
I stumbled across the Forum, and like you, did the diagnosis, surgery, R/T pretty much isolated from others - kind of ‘oh well, I need to to do this for my health, I’ll just go with it’.
Since coming on to here, I have learned about others’ situations, learned about breast cancer in a way I never even thought about before as it was ‘nothing to do with my life’ - and there is a warmth amongst women who are all here to let out fears, let off steam, get some advice, and to be with others. You will be glad you bobbled past . . . .
All the best to you x
Zips, make sure you post in “After the bell” We have tended to have finished treatment over the summer and are keeping an eye on each other as we start to find our “normal”.
