Hi everyone  I was meant to start chemo in July for TNBC but this kept getting pushed back and now I finally have my first appointment on Monday. Feeling nervous but also relieved it’s finally happening. I had to transfer care as I wasn’t happy with my original care team but my new team are amazing and they’ve made me feel completely at ease. I got a Little Lifts box from my new team today and it really brightened up my day! Hope everyone is doing well x

@Yasmeink how did your first appointment go ?

Are there others out there starting chemo this month ? The thread is very quiet probably due to the forum being read only for 2 weeks .

Started last week on EC
Not too many side effects, and everything manageable
Except one day i did get dizziness and heart palpitations and had to go to a&e. But everything was ok.
I’m a bit worried about it happening again at the next cycle

Hello fellow August starters, I am having my picc line fitted on Tuesday & my first chemo EC X 3 on Wednesday followed by Docetaxel X3 & rads x 15; Nerves really settled in now! I did go to a headwrappers workshop at my hospital yesterday, learnt fun ways to tie scarves, met lovely people & got a little goody bag too, can highly recommend to you all xxx

Hi @Jill1998 thank you for checking in! It went well, no reactions and I was able to go home after 5 hours. I’ve only really started feeling side effects from yesterday but both my boys haven’t slept well for a couple of days so it could be that too! Hope you’re doing well

Tulip  take it one treatment at a time  you will settle into a routine but always be vigilant during chemo :heart:take your temp and even with no temperature if your wee burns call your unit, it’ll probably be a uti from the chemo and will need antibiotics as will thrush mouth which can happen too from chemo  always ring your team and check during chemo  sorry you find yourself here but do ask away everyone will help  Jill, sue and I are bcn forum community champions we don’t have this against our names at the minute because the forum update glitches are being worked on. Just wanted you all to know :two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing ok
I had an appointment today to discuss the plan. I will be starting on EC for 3 cycles and then having Docetaxel along with Phesgo for 3 cycles. Just waiting for an Echo appointment then I will get a starting date. Just want to get started now. x

Hi @sindy5 ! That start date will come by so quick! I was told I would be waiting 2/3 weeks for one and they got me in 9 days later. It’s such a relief to finally get going but I did make the most of the time before by catching up with family and friends I hadn’t seen in a while, just in case my side effects didn’t allow me when I started (I did miss out on my friend’s hen last weekend because I was so tired but I have a 3 year old and a 3 month old who both don’t like to sleep overnight so I’m not getting a lot of sleep at the moment!) but I did see her before chemo and we had a lovely afternoon so I didn’t feel too upset over it. Hope you’re doing well and best of luck  xx

Thanks @Yasmeink Im thinking I might be joining the Sept thread as I might not have started in August. Has anyone decided to continue working or have you gone on long term sick? I’m a teacher so have been advised to stop but I was just wondering if anyone has continued working? Thanks x

I’m on mat leave at the moment anyway but I have already asked my employer about going straight onto sick leave as soon as my mat pay runs out. I have heard some people manage to work well in between cycles though as everyone reacts differently xx

Hi sindy, I’m an Early Years Teacher & have been told not to go to work because of infection risks, quite relieved to be honest that the decision was made for me!
Good Luck, I had my picc line put in today, 1st chemo tomorrow :pray:xx

Aww thank you for asking, had a rubbish couple of days, very tired & achey, feel like I’m on a boat or something, but seem to be turning a corner, yesterday was my last day of steroids so hoping I can get some proper sleep soon, the nurses at the unit were all so wonderful & supportive. Hope you’re doing ok too, it’s a crazy rollercoaster isn’t it? Xx

Ladies you may want to join the September starters thread too. I think due to the forum being out of commission for a couple of weeks this thread has had surprisingly few contributors .
