Hoping I follow the same pattern, final EC today, currently riding the steroid wave and a bit more tired than usual but that’s cause I was at the tail end of a cold going into this morning.
Hi, yes I saw your thread about having a cold. Hope you feel as well as I am at the moment
Hi all
Lovely reading your messages I have laughed, it seems we are all experiencing similar things in one way or another.
I’m on antibiotics as my infection markers were up this week.
My shopping trips consist of ice lollies, yogurts and biscuits healthy food is just way off my agenda right now! My mouth also tastes rank and my butt is so sore!
I have a nasty rash this time it’s like blotches of sunburn on my hands and coming up on my cheeks and head! Someone said to me a couple of months ago that I look so well for someone with cancer - well I definitely look like Iv got cancer now.
My hair is falling out on the top and sides but is remaining round the back so it just looks ridiculous.
I currently look like beatle juice is all I can say!
Scalp so sore also.
Be kind to yourselves, treat yourselves and remember it’s ok to not be ok some days, sending positive vibes and hugs xxx
Feeling good week before next round so took myself off camping with the dogs and husband. Best decision! Aviemore is lovely and the weather has been kind. Gentle walks and beach sunsets.
Positive vibes to you all
P.s flu jab yesterday and I feel ok
Lovely! I love Aviemore. Enjoy. We managed a trip to Ikea and sainsburys, not so exciting but it kept me away from the scones at home!
Glad you’re getting out. Aviemore does sound lovely. We had a trip into town, drink in a quiet pub (non alcoholic for me), inspecting the flooded river (it is a flood plain so to be expected) and a couple of shops. Was lovely and sunny but chilly now. Nice to feel normalish again, just tired now and bottoms of feet are itchy! Wonder if that’s a side effect?! Take care
Is everyone okay? It’s quiet!
I’m off to see my oncologist soon. Not looking forward to the train journey on my own as I feel strangely vulnerable without my hair.
I’m going to ask her more about docetaxel, and I’m going to ask her about flu and covid jabs. Anyone got any burning questions related to EC or Docetaxel?
X
I haven’t had the covid jab, just the flu one. I had a bad reaction to last covid jab but they aren’t available in Scotland until the end of of October.
I’m getting kinda used to my beanies but I know what you mean about feeling vulnerable.
It was so nice being away in bobble hat season, where no one knew me.
Bloods tomorrow and oncologist call, fingers crossed all good and 3rd round docextal and carboplatin goes ahead on Thursday.
Hope you are all ok xx
Hope it all goes well. I’m getting used to wearing hats everywhere now, thank goodness it’s cold and wet in the North West.
I just had another CT this morning and they tried to make me have a pregnancy blood test first. I totally kicked off (had been told they’d stop making me do this, the test takes 4 hours to process so I have to waste most of a day, not to mention be stressed). Had to push and push cos some daft litigious woman probably had one when pregnant and sued, I was fuming. I’ve had x2 cycles of one of the harshest chemotherapy cocktails and they think I could be pregnant? Ugh.
Hi all
@sez that sounds very frustrating - glad you didn’t have to waste the day
@songbird1 good luck with bloods and the oncologist tomorrow
@bluesatsuma i was told as long as you feel well then fine to have Covid and flu, I have both booked for the 7th
I have my 3rd EC tomorrow and woken up this morning and coming down with a cold, typical, fingers crossed I can just push through and all okay tomorrow, my bloods were fine on Friday
Hope you all have a good day xx
Hi, ask anything you can about docetaxel. Spoke to my oncologist this morning, going to prescribe omeprazole for the heartburn I have had with EC which he said is also a side effect of docetaxel.
This cycle has definitely been less harsh, but steroids finish today so will crash tomorrow no doubt.
Had PICC line care this morning, the alcohol swabs have caused my skin where the edge of the dressing sticks to be sore and bleed a bit. Barrier cream on order.
Crazy red tape @sez. I was asked if i was pregnant before mine and I said no. They asked when last period was and i said it was 2 months ago. They still seemed happy with that! At least they backed down in rhe end. Hope you get results quick…as if we need any more worry time. Xxx
@bigpickle. My arm reacts to the picc dressing. Seem to have a different type put on every week and because its sore, the alcohol swab stings like mad and my arm bleeds. I emphasise. I will see what i can find out for us about docetaxel. Haven’t had any heartburn thankfully. I’m worried about the neuropathy and scared about allergic reactions.
Hope you’re well xxx
The annoying thing is my specialist (who I loathe) could have (and should have) put on my notes that I didn’t require a blood test and they would have taken his word. But they wouldn’t take my word.
Last time I was there 5 hours and couldn’t leave the hospital cos apparently after I’d had the blood test (and was waiting for it to process) I could potentially have gone off and got pregnant in those 5 hours. It’s just so rude, invasive and condescending. Like we’re not going through enough already!!
Good luck @mz45 with EC 3 tomorrow. Mine is friday. I hope that cold stays low key. I managed to book covid for late November but no flu jabs available yet. Hope EC 3 is easy on you xxx
To be fair, sex is probably the last thing on our minds at the moment. My libido has got up and gone lol. They should have instant urine ones anyway. Hope you’re home and relaxing now. Xxx
I told them I’ve been struggling to even hug my relatives cos of my immunity levels let alone risking pregnancy.
Last time they told me if I’d said I was gay they would have waived it (like gay people can’t conceive?!). The whole thing is so ridiculous I’m complaining to PALs about it this time.
@sez that’s an outdated view from them isn’t it. My gay friend has had more babies than me. Xxx
Sitting in Birmingham’s biggest cancer centre. Its really busy as always. Probably over 100 people here for all different cancers.
One thing i notice is that i am literally the only person here with obviously no hair. I know not all chemo causes hair loss, and not all cancers need chemo, but even in here people are looking at me sadly. I’m also having a hot flush so look like a bald beetroot in a hat or maybe like one of the flumps.
I will probably be here hours. There’s usually a sign up saying up to 2 hours late, but today they’ve got a leak sign up instead.
@bluesatsuma are you sure some of them are not wearing wigs? I look at people differently now knowing how good some wigs are…… However I’ll be wearing my hat for chemo this week. I sometimes have trouble stopping my wig slipping, I feel as if the slightest eyebrow raise will make it ping off
