Had my last chemo/cycle 6 (2 times delayed) yesterday. Rang the bell, made me quite teary. Hope everyone else is at this stage or nearly there too.
Lap 1 done. Hopefully never have to go through that again.

Well 2024 can do one but I have no doubt 2025 will come with significant challenges, PTSD or just TSD because the post part may be a long time coming.
Just a wee heads up to anyone moving from docetaxil & carboplatin to just radio and Phesgo. I had a 9hr A&E visit on Monday night due to crushing heart, significant, discomfort. I think itā€™s probably down to still having Phesgo but no steroids, antihistamines or antisickness and starting radiotherapy. My visit was inconclusive as pains had passed by the time I was seen (had been going on for 7hrs), I hope you all transition red flag free and Iā€™m sure my body was just adjusting but getting home at 4am to then do 2hr round trip in morning for RT wasnā€™t great. They did say my neutrophilā€™s are down at 1, which explains why I feel lousy but no filgrastim injections to boost my t-cells this round. Hoping to build my strength back up but itā€™s not going to be a quick process.
Sending new year healing vibes to you all for this year xx

Oh no, that doesnā€™t sound good. I had my first Herceptin injection yesterday, my fourth but the first on its own, and so far I feel absolutely fine. My first radiotherapy is due tomorrow morning. I have been trying to hold my breath at times, but donā€™t think I have practiced enough :see_no_evil:. Back on letrozole as well, so expecting some reaction from that.

@bigpickle Iā€™m sure your breath holding will be fine. Iā€™m right side mastectomy but still had to breath hold. They did a few practice runs and it gave me an idea of what to expect. So far Iā€™ve found RT straight forward but itā€™s early days (4 rounds in, 11 to go) and Iā€™m aware of possible side affects but as always, prepare (as much as I can) for the worst and hope for the best.
How many rounds are you getting?
Best wishes for a smooth RT journey

@songbird1 I am having 9 sessions on consecutive days, barring weekends of course. Will be finished on 14 January. I have plenty of aveeno moisturiser and have heard that it is good to drink plenty of water . My poor bladder!

@bigpickle i bought cream and lotion that a friend had used successfully and have loads of moogoo but they told me i could only use the cream they gave me, zerobase, which has been great so far.
Iā€™ll be finished on 16th. Hereā€™s to being finished that leg of the journey soon!

Well a new year is upon us, letā€™s hope we can all get though these next steps without too many issues. Best wishes to you all xx

My last Docetaxal and carboplatin today. Just need this done. My nails have started peeling was hoping to get away with that, itā€™s crazy as not had chemo for 5 weeks so thought side effects would have stopped. Was hard to come back today as I have been mentally feeling good.

Seeing surgeon on 14th. To book surgery, wig appointment 30th need to start feeling normal again if thatā€™s even possible  xx

@lilly123 yay for last chemo today!
My nails have been a tragedy for the last month and get worse every day. They are just hanging on but itā€™s so painful if I accidentally tap them. I find the easiest tasks impossible atm, I hope yours donā€™t get as bad.
People are talking about ā€˜thrive in 25ā€™ but with my neutrophils so low, thriving is perhaps a bit over ambitious but hereā€™s hoping itā€™s not as bad as last year!
All the best xx

@songbird1 and @lilly123 i feel your pain, my nails look awful and I caught one the other day which provided some very blue language as it is now hanging on just about!!
Well done for your last chemo :tada: mine is next Tuesday all being well and seeing my surgeon on the 20th. Hoping for surgery mid February x

@galdiolus the nail business is stomach churning. My chemo dept said theyā€™d never seen nails so bad (looked like theyā€™d been trapped in a car door).
Good luck with your last round next week xx

Iā€™m at my wits end with my nails. Iā€™m hoping these wee finger tip protectors help. I catch them all the time and while I keep them short there is only a tiny bit holding the nail on. Between this and my incredibly dry eyes, meaning I canā€™t drive due to bad vision Iā€™ve weā€™ll had enough of this :poop:
Hoping you are all ok and if you havenā€™t finished chemo yet, I hope itā€™s not long for you.
On a positive note Iā€™ve done 9/15 RT and so far all good. Xx

Ouch that sounds awful. I seem to have got away with it regarding my nails. Strange how we get different side effects.
I am also well into my radiotherapy. Had my fifth of nine today. Only issue is the hospital is always running lateā€¦ !

Iā€™m so happy to hear the RT is going well @songbird1 and @bigpickle :raised_hands: , Itā€™s really uplifting seeing how well you are doing, although @songbird1 it definitely looks painful, hope the protections help, fingers crossed with a hug xx

To everyone, wishing you that the side effects donā€™t linger and that youā€™re able to m9ve onto the next step, whatever that might look like. Take care with a hug xx

Ah ouch you must be suffering! My nail beds are sensitive and tingling from neuropathy but my thumb nail is peeling from the bottom up Iā€™m scared to touch it!

Iā€™m 8 days post my final chemo and it has quite frankly put me on my arse! Having a 6 week break was not a good idea! Anyway itā€™s done and surgery booked for 29th Iā€™m hoping lymph nodes all clear and then itā€™s targeted until August!

Sadly my mother in-law was diagnosed on Tuesday. She had a routine mammogram and they found a small 5mm lump ductal carcinoma NST. From what I understand she is having surgery and lymph nodes checked and thatā€™s all. Fortunately none of the dreadful chemo. :crossed_fingers:t2: they caught it early enough to prevent it progressing.

I am so looking forward to the spring now, feeling the warm sun on my face and having some normality back in my life. Im sure youā€™re all feeling that too? Iā€™m not sure I will ever be the same again, my body has aged dramatically had anyone else noticed loss of muscle mass and skin elasticity? Iā€™m 48 so I guess it was coming anyway it just happened very quickly!
Wishing you all well on your radiotherapy and hoping itā€™s as comfortable as it can be for you xxx

Yeiks and outch @lilly123 ā€¦ i havenā€™t had much nail issues just a thumb thay has a darker area developing, but im keeping an eye on it just in caseā€¦
Iā€™m also having surgery on the 29th, so Iā€™ll definitely be thinking of you :people_hugging:. Iā€™m dreading more the recovery than anything elseā€¦
I did notice thay every movement makes my legs hurt, mainly calfs but guessing itā€™s because Iā€™ve never been very active but much less nowā€¦
Definitely looking forward to spring, my favorite time of year :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: That definitely made me smile so thank you xx
Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and fingers crossed sheā€™ll be spared the rollercoaster weā€™ve just been on :crossed_fingers:

Take care xx

@lilly123 sorry to hear about your mother in law, fingers crossed her treatment goes well.
Good luck with your surgery, mine was back in May which seems a lifetime ago.
Some days I have felt about 90, shuffling about and becoming breathless. But it has been 4 weeks since my last chemo, and I feel so much stronger now. My pace has picked up on the dog walks and I donā€™t get breathless anymore. Radiotherapy has been a breeze so far.
So looking forward to better weather and longer days. Bulbs coming up in the garden and our camellia is full of buds. Better days are round the corner.

Lots of love xx
