Hi @Absolutely_Not Yes I’m a leftie too. I think it’s between 20 and 30 seconds, but it’s ok to breathe if you have to where I am, as the machine stops and then continues when you breathe in again. She said today’s would be quicker as theyhad to do some setup yesterday. Appointments are for 15 mins, so hopefully it won’t be too much going every day.
So pleased the call went well and they’ve made some changes to ease everything. I’m sure your next visit will be much smoother xx
I’m a May starter but just switched over to EC with immunotherapy last week.
Glad you’ve got the first one under your belt and that it was a pleasant experience. I always find the same supportive environment at my chemo unit.
I definitely get a “weird” feeling after chemo, like I’m somewhat disconnected from the real world, including my own body.
Days 3-5 have been the worst for me on the EC, with a big crash on day 3 and a slow improvement through 4 & 5. On day 7 now and feeling much more human even though my face hasn’t quite got the message yet!
Hi unfortunately still no proper sleep for me, that’s 2 nights now. Really hoping i’m that exhausted i fall asleep easily tonight. I’m on day 4 today so was expecting to feel groggy but this is horrible. My daughter got her GCSE results today and I feel so bad that I am so grumpy and tired x
Well PICC line was fitted this morning and I am ready to go for Monday. Feeling flat this afternoon as should have been going to a wedding this weekend up in Scotland. Just need it to be Monday now to get started. On the plus got my wig fitting booked in for Wednesday in preparation for losing my hair. X
Glad all went well today and good luck for Monday & the wig appointment. That’s a shame you are missing the wedding, do you have any plans for this weekend instead? I feel i’m constantly trying to find things to do (when i’m not exhausted) to keep my mind busy x
@bella80 my friend is coming Sunday for brunch whilst the boys are at swimming which will be nice. Tomorrow probably just take it easy to be honest in prep for Monday need to sort my bag out I’ve just been dumping stuff in it! Head is going a million miles a hour now it’s like packing for a holiday but one you don’t want to go on!! Feeling bad for my husband as it was his friends wedding I can see he is gutted although he isn’t saying it. X
First treatment done for me yesterday, (carbo/taxol), feeling ok, but background tiredness, nothing that’s slowed me too much today! I’m sure it’ll get worse as it goes on, but nice to have the first under the belt to speak!
On a side not, does anyone know if they can use a picc line straight away? As I have an appointment for it, on the same day I should have my treatment.
Ahh that’s difficult for him but at least you can see the photos and meet up when this chapter is over.
I totally get you with the packing the bag. I took so much I didnt need. In the end I just used my phone, glasses, some sweets, a drink and read a whole book which I’ve been trying to read since Christmas. I generally run quite warm but did find I wrapped a chunky cardigan around me later in the day as I was getting chilly.
I hope you have a nice relaxing weekend where you can x
Glad your first treatment is done and went ok. I’m not sure about the PICC . They used a cannula on me and didnt mention a PICC for next time either so i’m not sure what is happening x
@bella80 they we’re going to put a Picc in first, but then I had a cancellation appointment so started earlier then they thought they could get me in, normally it would go in before the EC cycle for me, but I think they thought they would have trouble with the cannula (and they did!)
Sorry guys went MIA for a couple of days. Had EC cycle 2 yesterday and it was night and day with the nausea since the changes the antisickness tablets. I managed to eat dinner!!! That didn’t happen for days after cycle 1.
They also checked my PICC line and are happy with it despite the fact I’m leaking from the arm hole. They think whoever fitted it has nicked a lymph node going in.
Hairs started shedding a wee bit and not just from my head.
Hi @tiro, Glad to hear it’s going well and fast and that it’s just 20-30 second, I read somewhere online it was 60 so I that earlier this week even though mine won’t be for months How was the rest of the week with it?
Hi @bella80, How’s the sleeping going? I was thinking about you last night as I tried to nap when I came home from chemo and couldn’t, just dozed then I was the same last night. I really hope you managed to get a good sleep. How did your daughter’s results go? My eldest must be ages with her as she’s just had her Nat 5 results (we’re in Scotland)
Glad everything went well on Thursday with your chemo
My PICC was fitted 3pm on the Thursday and had my first chemo at 9:15 on the Friday. Not quite the same but like you I felt that was really close so I had a wee look online and it said they’re good to go as soon as they’re installed. The chemo nurses did ask when it had been fitted and didn’t bat an eyelid when I said yesterday afternoon so I think it was just so they knew if it was bruised or tender that it was just newly installed.
Sorry to hear you’re missing the wedding. You’ll need to come up here on holiday after to celebrate with the married couple
I was the same packing the bag for my chemo, you’d have thought I was getting kept in! Did I use any of it? Nope, just my phone. Did I learn from my mistakes yesterday going in for cycle 2? Also no I’m a ‘just in case’ packer!
I have my second round of AC on Tuesday and I just feel normal again! I knew it would be the case but boy it’s hard feeling so run down and off for 9 days.
Has anyone found anything I useful to help with side effects? Acupuncture maybe? Interested in anything that helped pls! Thanx
Just thought in case anyone is interested in applying, I’d let you all know that I applied for and received a chemo kit from Cancer Support UK. Full of useful things and really nice to receive
@titch1 oh such a shame about the wedding but I’m sure everyone understands. I guess we’ve all had to cancel plans since our diagnosis’ it’s hard isn’t it?
Good luck for Monday and for your wig fitting. I went for a fitting a few weeks ago and bought a nice wig and a couple of scarves and hats. Not looking forward to losing my hair and hoping the cold capping might at least delay it a little but the pre chemo nurse told me I was more than likely going to lose it so at least I’m prepared I guess
Hi @bryna great to hear first treatment done and it wasn’t too bad. I think I’m having my TC chemo via a cannula in the back of my hand. I’m quite veiny there so I guess they thought it would be ok. I’ll find out on Wednesday when I have my first treatment (assuming nothing else happens to delay it!)
