@bella80 all the best for tomorrow I am getting my PICC in on Friday prior to Monday, the only reason being the site they do the lines has a emergency facility just in case we’re the chemo unit doesn’t have. Xxx remember those mints as my friend has reminded me

@bella80 all the best for tomorrow, I felt very much the same, sending positive thoughts your way.

I also didn’t know about the Picc line, but was ok with the cannula, stay hydrated as it makes it easier.

All the best xx

Thank you, hope all goes well at your appointment on Friday. I will see what they say tomorrow. I think i’m just trying to prepare myself for what might happen tomorrow. The fear of the unknown i suppose x

Thank you, so much, I had forgotten about the mints too xx

I don’t normally drink much but will make sure to drink plenty throughout this treatment xx

Had my first treatment today. Cold capping was bearable. I have very thick hair ehich i usually moan about but i’m hoping that will help me now.

I did have an allergic reaction to one of the chemo drugs after about 15 minutes, tight chest and could feel my heart pounding. The nurses were amazing and switched the pump off and everything went back to normal. They resumed treatment after 30 minutes but at a slower dose and that was ok.

Back home feeling tired but otherwise ok. Hope everyone else is ok this week with their treatments x

Hey @tiro, lovely to hear from you, how are you getting on? Have you started your radiotherapy yet? How’s it going?

I am ok thanks. EC cycle 2 on Friday, can’t believe it’s here already. I’ve been having some issues with my PICC line so I’ve been seeing the community nurses on an almost daily basis. Couple of times last week was twice a day :face_with_peeking_eye: Was getting quite frustrated and upset about it but we kind of have a plan in place and no one is concerned so I’m calmer about it now :slightly_smiling_face: All in all, I think I’ve got off lightly though in terms of chemo, hoping it continues :black_heart:

Really pleased to hear it’s going ok. Must be annoying having to see nurses over something like a picc line. Hope Friday goes as well and you’re managing ok with the side affects :hugs:

I start on Wednesday for 4 weeks. Just want it to be over with, which I’m sure we all do now.

Keep in touch and let me know how the next one goes. Big hugs xx

@bella80 oh not great re the allergic reaction but very reassuring they were on top of things and all was well.

I saw surgeon and oncologist today - surgeon gave me some more antibiotics so I’d have had a 14 day course by next Monday but was pleased with progress of the infection looking much better. Oncologist was therefore happy I can start my TC chemo on Wednesday next week and not at all worried it had had to be put off for a couple of weeks so that was reassuring. Hopefully it’ll be third time lucky for me to start chemo :crossed_fingers:t2:

Yes I’ve always hated my really thick hair, my hairdresser would always comment on how much there is but in these circumstances i’m hoping it helps me. As someone else mentioned it did mean longer in the chair. I had 45 minutes before treatment started and an hour and a half after with it on. She then said some ladies leave it on a little longer once the machine is off for it to thaw a little so I did that while waiting for my husband to come and pick me up.

I mentioned the packs for hands and feet as i was gojng to buy some but she said people didnt really use them. I was going to ask people’s opinions on here. When she gave me the book to bring home where you log side effects she mentioned tingling in hands and feet. She said to let my oncologist know if I experienced them as they could adjust the dosage to try and prevent any nerve damage happening x

Thank you, yes I think I’ve been lucky with side effects. PICC line issues were more stressful and upsetting than annoying to be honest.

Oh excellent, I hope it all goes ok for you. It’ll fly in, be over before you know it.

Will do. Let me now know radiotherapy goes, got that after chemo :slightly_smiling_face:

I can imagine, you just want things to run as smoothly as possible, especially when you’re working hard to get through the emotional impact of treatment :purple_heart:

Will definitely report back on my radiation treatment. Feeling a little nervous, but I’m sure it’s natural being the first one.

Best wishes for Friday xx
