Awaiting surgery

Awaiting surgery

Awaiting surgery Hi all,
I am sorry to report that I have had to move from ‘Have I got breast cancer’ to ‘Newly diagnosed’ pages, but that’s life, eh?
Kelly, thank you for your kind words, my family were wonderful when I spoke to them, they are all coming round for tea today. It’s a lovely sunny day and we will sit out in the garden, where it will be alot cheerier.
I go into hospital next Thursday for surgery Friday. I met the surgeon on Thursday, he was very reassuring. I won’t know what treatment will be necessary until after the surgery, which will be wide local excision and removal of a few lymph nodes. I have been told to expect to be in hospital 4-6 days, then home to do very little. I’m starting to collect a load of books and hope to at least be able to paint (watercolours, not the bathroom!!).
Kind thoughts to all and thank you all for the supportive comments, I hope to be able to repay these by being of help to other new users in the future. In the meantime, will keep visitng the chat room and swapping strengths with you all!

Hi Elizabeth,

Sorry that you hae had to move forums, but I am sure you will find plenty of support and info when you need it.

You will find that you have drains fitted during surgery and the physio will come and giove you some exercises to do. Please do them, they do help.

Best bit of advice I can give is to listen to you body and rest it when it tells you to.

I will be thinking of you on Thursday.

Take care & best wishes

Jan

Hi Elizabeth Hi Elizabeth,

I hope you had a lovely tea in the garden with your family the other day. I am glad they were wonderful when you spoke to them as good support is a must when dealing with this.

Best of luck for your op on friday, I hope it goes really well and wish you a speedy recovery. I ordered the ‘exercises after breast surgery’ booklet from this site before I went in for my mastectomy and I took it in with me. It was awesome and was better than the exercises the physios gave me. I know you are not having a mastectomy but its designed fo all types of breast surgery. Don’t want to sound like matron but do make sure you do your exercises regularly as this really will help your recovery.

I will be thinking of you on friday and looking out for your first post after you get home. Take care and allow yourself to be pampered and waited on!

Hope to hear from you soon,

Luv,

Kelly

Thanks for all your comments and I promise faithfully to do my exercises. I felt a bit fed up at having to buy sports bras for after surgery, but then I thought, no, stop being negative! So now I plan to get myself better and take up running. It will not only help with my general fitness, but it will put these bras to good use in the future!
I will just let you know that it may be sometime before I can reply to the posts, as I do not have a computer at home. When I am well enough, I will get up to the local library and use my hotmail. Didn’t want anyone to think I had disappeared off the face of the earth!
Good luck to all awaiting results or surgery.

Good luck in hospital - once you get into hospital it all passes very quickly and as long as you take care of yourself you will be up and about in to time. The waiting for the results post op was the worst of it I found. Take care and let others take care of you,
all the best Chloe x
