Back pain on Exemestane?

Hello! Ive been on Exemestane for just over a month now. So far i feel like the side effects have been pretty minimal but in the past week or so ive been experiencing some mild back pain. I know it can cause pain in the muscles and joints but wasnt so sure about the back. The sensible part of me knows its probably down to the fact im back at work and spending more time at a desk too! But the paranoid part of me is worrying that the cancer has all of a sudden spread! Goodness, what a jouney this is! :frowning: Anyway, was wondering if other people experienced back pain with Exemestane at all?

I’ve been on Exemestane for about 6 months now, 2 or 3 “regular” hot flushes just before bed time. But no joint or back pain until the last few weeks.

Do I think it’s Exemestane….it did cross my mind, but I have done a lot more physically these past weeks. I’ve been on holiday, swimming and cycling, and on my return battled with the garden. My shoulder (op side) is aching and quite painful, my back feels like it will never straighten up again! I know I have over done it and those parts that have not been used often have felt the strain. That’s what I’m hoping :slightly_smiling_face:.

I started Exemestane at the beginning of May (bone, pelvis and liver mets) and have had 2 or 3 bouts of pain across my lower back. I have had many problems with my back (not cancer related)and have had spinal stabilisation surgery 17 years ago so have “weak” spots which flare with pain and tightness from time to time. But this felt like an ache right across my lower back, very similar to period pain in that it felt muscular and better when I stretched a bit. It’s sore for a day or 2 then goes… not had it for a couple of weeks now…

Thanks for your reply @sal1! It definitely sounds like you’ve been doing plenty to cause aches and pains! Im trying my hardest to be sensible and think like this too! We’re off on holiday tomorrow and im hoping it eases off!

Thanks @mysticalmoo1! Sorry to gear youve had some pain too! I think my pain sounds quite similar actually! Hoping it eases off while we’re on holiday!
