Back to work after chemo

Hi
I’ve just had my 9th Taxol of 12, due to finish 17th Dec, Herceptin for a year.
Oncologist appt to discuss radiotherapy on 2nd Jan. Radiotherapy will only be 5 sessions and have been told I could wait up to 3 months for it!

I’ve gotten more and more tired as the chemo has gone on, other side effects are minimal and manageable.

I’ve been off work (yr 1 TA) since chemo stated and am keen to go back.

Does the chemo leave you drained once finished, how quickly did you all go back to work?

My work have been amazing and we haven’t discussed when I’m going back yet.

Thanks for reading. Xx

I worked throughout 12 weekly sessions of Paclitaxel, although I dropped to 90% hrs from week 8 and 70% hrs from week 10. I have a week of leave to recover, granted as a reasonable workplace adjustment, and supposedly returning to FT next week, prior to radiotherapy starting. It was the lack of sleep due to nighttime muscle aches that wiped me out.

Dear Kim,

Well done, for getting this far with all your treatment, breast cancer, chemo, radiotherapy are all very tiring, physically and mentally, however everyone reacts differently, please listen to your body and don’t rush back to work until you feel ready. Maybe visit to the company for a chat and see all your colleagues.

Everyone’s journey is different, take one day at a time at the moment, it’s still very early days, maybe reduced hours to start with would help.

Take good care, keep posting letting us know how you are getting on.

Health and happiness going forward

Hugs Tili :rainbow::pray::rainbow::pray:
