I’ve just been reading on the BBC Have Your Say about “Should lifestyle affect access to IVF?” and generally it relates the topic is… “A survey of international fertility specialists suggests that more than forty percent of them think IVF treatment should not be offered to overweight women or to smokers. Are they right?”. But when reading the “readers recommended” section there are so many people who think that IVF shouldn’t be allowed on the NHS at all under any circumstance and if your fertility isn’t 100% then that’s life and you should just get on with it.
I’m 32 and have just gone through IVF and have 3 little embryos frozen for the future. Before BC I would have never really thought about the whole IVF thing much or how it effects people. Just wondered what everyone’s thoughts are on this? I’m quite surprised at so many people’s reactions, or is it just that they don’t realise that people aren’t always born with a problem and have possibly had the opportunity to concieve taken away from them.
Would be interested to see what people think having viewed this from the BC side.
