Hi, I’m not sure I am posting in the right place. I feel my questions are a bit trivial but I am hoping to get some information or advice on beauty treatments after going through treatment. I was ER/PR+, Her2-, had SMX with immediate diep reconstruction, chemo, rads and now on Letrozole and Zoladex. Last radiotherapy session was end July 2024. I just feel I need a boost!! I actually looked pretty healthy and well while going through treatment; lost weight, skin was good and I felt really positive in myself. Fast forward a year and I am back at work, albeit part time, lots of stress with poorly, elderly mum, late teen kids, partner too busy to help, house in disarray. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed and everyone else seems to have forgotten last year. I feel tired and I absolutely look it!!
Has anyone used fillers on their face after treatment? Or used dermarollers? Is it safe? Also, is it safe to use the LED face masks? Or is there some magic potion out there anyone could recommend?
Not trivial at all. Anything that helps you feel better . Might be worth running those things past the nurses in the Ask our Nurses your questions section of the forum ?
Thank you, I will give that a try.
Hi @ngt
I couldn’t agree more with @jill1998. It’s not trivial at all to want to treat yourself kindly. You’ve been through a lot with your treatment, and it sounds like you’re also carrying the weight of family responsibilities.
I think asking on the nurses forum would be the best idea. I will follow your post with interest as I have wondered about the LED face mask but wasn’t sure if it would interfere with the skin cells following treatment.
Good luck

Hi - I’m at the end of treatment chemo 29 rounds , surgery radio , stage 3, HRT 2 +. and strongly oestrogen and progesterone +
My beauty therapist , who I have known for years , has absolutely refused to do any advanced treatments until 6 months post finishing chemo ( radio frequency , Botox , etc) so has been doing mild exfoliation etc and has also let me use a LED facial mask which she approves of !
Hope this helps and all the best xx
Hi @bella68
Thank you for the update ![]()
I had a quick google and it said no to everything but I know consultants always err on side of caution.
I had a years wait to see a gynaecologist who prescribed topical oestrogen to help with VA after my gp wouldn’t allow
Keep us posted how you get on please
Best wishes

I was not advised against beauty treatments - I have an LED device at home but I bought it during lockdown because I couldn’t go to the salon. I was diagnosed after salons had reopened so never actually used it since having BC. I have been having non- surgical facelifts regularly though before during and after treatment which use different electrical currents and they work well if done regularly @ngt though I’m not sure if they would be deemed to be safe either - too late for me if they’re not !
I recognize what you’re saying - I can remember looking in the mirror and thinking how tired and old I looked . I did find the Moving Forwards course helpful and shedding a bit of emotional baggage helped give me some energy back . Somatic Yoga was good as well - released a lot of physical tension which generally helped . Xx
Hi
Thought I’d pop back on this thread and give a lil update.
I contacted the oncologists secretary and asked about the face masks. She very kindly spoke to the oncologist available and they said it’s was absolutely fine to use red light masks.
Obviously maybe double check with your own consultant/ oncologist just to be sure but from my pov I know I can use one safely
Take care

Thank you for checking . I just noticed this message. I had contacted my breast team as well and they said the same, fine to use once active treatment is past. Not tried it yet but will feel more relaxed now when I do.
